Dave Bautista continues to expand his acting career by joining the cast of two upcoming movies. According to Deadline, the former WWE Champion has signed on for roles in the reboot of “Highlander” and the sequel “Roadhouse 2.”
In the new “Highlander,” which is a reboot of the 1986 fantasy classic, Bautista is set to play Kurgan, the immortal villain initially brought to life by Clancy Brown. The film will be directed by Chad Stahelski and will also feature British actor Henry Cavill. Production will be handled by United Artists’ Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt, alongside Neil H. Moritz and 87Eleven Entertainment.
While Bautista’s specific character in “Roadhouse 2” is not revealed, the film is a follow-up to the 2024 “Road House” released on Prime Video. The screenplay was penned by Will Beall, with production by Charles Roven and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment and Nine Stories Productions led by Jake Gyllenhaal. Ilya Naishuller, known for the 2021 action thriller “Nobody,” will direct the project.
Bautista’s last WWE match took place at WrestleMania 35, and since then, he has focused on his film career, including a recent cameo in the action-comedy “The Naked Gun.”
