WWE SmackDown Results (8/8/25): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show will open in a video package that will re-block last weekend’s WWE Summerslam Ple. Joe Tesitor and Wade Barrett welcome us to the show, and John Cena’s music will be a hit.
Cena then heads towards the ring and grabs the microphone. Cena begins by saying that he and the WWE universe are coming a long way. Cena says that because of the building’s history, WWE was afraid of coming to Montreal. Cena says she was afraid that the audience would hijack the show. Cena says he never feared it because the audience is the show. Cena says if you are watching at home, you have to let them go and you want to be there. China says there are people everywhere. Then Cena says the noise there seems to be deafening and he can almost hear himself speak. Cena says she can feel it through the screen. Cena says she imagines trying to plan a show around her fans. Cena says it can get scary once they start singing and the crowd starts singing.
Cena says that some performers may be scared or afraid. Cena says they might ask what I do. Cena then says that there may be fear, but he immediately enters and makes everyone enjoy and accept every second. Cena says it won’t last forever. The crowd thanks Cena and he begins to tear. Since then, Cena has been here for over 20 years and has shared many precious moments in this ring and thank the crowd. Cena says he has appeared 11 times since tonight. Cena says he’s beginning to understand that. Cena says she’s more afraid every day. Cena says she is grateful to her fans. Cena then says that he wants to lean over this and remove it from her chest. Then Cena says he wants to be honest and vulnerable. Cena says he is afraid that he can’t give enough in this limited time and will disappoint the fans. Cena then says she fears that he will be gone and that if WWE moves to fans, she will forget him.
Cena says she’s afraid of Brock Lesnar. Cena says he wonders which universe he will choose to take Brock as his opponent. Cena says there is no universe to retreat from Brock Lesnar. Cena says he’s afraid, yes. Cena says he is afraid that Brock Lesnar brought him into John Cena’s problem. Cena says everyone behind him has John Cena’s problems. Cena says she would not fall without a fight. Cena says when you want some blocks, come and get some. Cena then says that anyone brave enough to meet the last real champion will burn a gun. China says the end is now.
Logan Paul’s music is a hit and he advances to the stage. Paul tells Cena and the crowd to hear him. Paul says what this is, what this is, what version this is, makes him sick. Paul says he respected Cena, but now he doesn’t know him. Paul tells China that he doesn’t know who he is. Paul says people don’t know who he is. Paul says Cena said herself whether you like it or not. Cena says Paul does WWE better than professional wrestlers, including herself. Cena says Paul has done better at WWE than anyone else, but Paul is the biggest stupid ass he’s ever seen. Paul says Cena is a liar. Paul says he’s the show. Paul says John Cena has become a charity case. Paul says if Cena is handing out matches, he wants it.
Cena then asks Paul if he wants a match, and Paul tells Cena he wants it. Paul tells Cena that’s what he wants. Paul says he wants China in the French-speaking city of France. Paul says Montreal doesn’t deserve this. Paul says the match was box office. Drew McIntyre then attacks Cena from behind, and Paul joins the attack. Cody Rhodes’ music then hits, with Rhodes chasing McIntyre and Cena chasing Paul and being sent to the floor. Cena then accepts a clash match in Paris. Cena says that if the two want to fight, he might have a partner. Would you like to have a tag match tonight? Cena says, “The champion is here!”
After that, we head backwards. There, the Motor City Machine Gun is asked by Kathy Kelly about the match at Summer Slam and tonight’s match. Shelley says that both were tape-on and the match was cruel, but they created the legacy of knocking down and going back. Sabin then says he didn’t get the job done at Summer Slam, but they know what it takes to become champions again, and the road to the top begins tonight.
The Motor City Machine Gun then heads into the ring for the first match of the night, followed by an MFT.
Tag Team Match: Motor City Machine Gun (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) vs. MFT (Talatonga and J.C. Mateo)
The match will feature JC Mateo, Alex Shelley and Shelley avoid Talla Tonga on the apron, but Mateo has hit him with some punches. Shelley then hits a punch and a side headlock. Sabin then created a blind tag and hit a dropkick and flatliner combination with Mateo. They then knock Tonga and Mateo on the floor. Sabin then attacks a suicide dive with Mateo. Shelley then avoids Tonga, Sabin and Shelley and kicks him. He then tapped his shoulders and elbows with a horn matteo. Shelley then tages and Tonga Roa distracts the judge. Tara Tonga then pulls Shelley away from the apron and sends him to the ringside wall.
