What Prompted WWE Legal to Finally Approve Brock Lesnar’s Return?

2 Min Read

Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE SummerSlam only happened after WWE’s legal team cleared him. There has been much speculation about the reasons behind his comeback, but the decision was ultimately based on WWE legal giving Lesnar the go-ahead.

According to Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer newsletter, the shift in WWE legal’s stance on Lesnar presents a major question. Meltzer noted that Janelle Grant’s lawyers were unsure about the case, and many believe there was no strong legal case against Vince McMahon. Despite ongoing investigations, a judge indicated that the case was still active even though it had officially concluded.

This decision coincided with the SEC’s conclusion of its investigation into McMahon in early January, though the civil trial is still ongoing.

Meltzer also suggested that WWE might now view the legal risk as minimal. Should the case move to arbitration, anything related to Lesnar would be insignificant. Similarly, if a settlement is reached, Lesnar’s involvement likely won’t be a major concern.

Since Brock Lesnar was mentioned in Janelle Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon, many fans were unhappy with his return. However, WWE Legal has made it clear that Lesnar is no longer implicated and is free to come back.

Lesnar’s comeback demonstrates WWE’s confidence in moving forward despite ongoing legal challenges involving McMahon. Whether this move is entirely risk-free remains uncertain, but for now, the Beast is back and set to play a significant role in WWE storylines, especially after his dominant win over John Cena.
