AEW Star Shatters Jade Cargill’s Impressive Winning Streak

The AEW star has surpassed the long-standing records previously held by Jade Cargill, who left for WWE in September 2023. Jade, the inaugural TBS Champion, held the title for an impressive 508 days. However, the longest championship reign in AEW history now belongs to Okada, who has been AEW Continental Champion for 509 days and counting.

In a significant moment last July in Texas, Okada became the first AEW unified champion. AEW continues to honor the histories of both titles, listing Okada as the unified international and continental champion on their official roster. Okada earned the international championship by defeating Kenny Omega at a recent pay-per-view event and later unified it with the Continental Championship.

Okada is the second wrestler to hold the Continental Championship, having won it from the first champion, Eddie Kingston, during an episode of AEW Dynamite last March. He is approaching 30 days as AEW International Champion since defeating Omega. Okada is set to defend his unified championship against Swerve Strickland at AEW Forbidden Door, with the match scheduled for August 24th in London, England.

Fan Take: This milestone establishes Okada as a dominant force in AEW, setting new standards for championship reigns. For AEW fans, this signals an exciting era of high-stakes competition and elevates the prestige of AEW’s titles on an international level.
