Inside WWE2K25: Writers Unveil Their Original Vision for Bray Wyatt’s Epic Storyline

3 Min Read

WWE 2K25 has recently launched a DLC that includes the storyline between Bray Wyatt and Wyatt Socks. Although the DLC was released just last month, the lead writer for the storyline has shared insights about the original plans for the entire quest.

Andrea Lissunburger, the lead writer and senior narrative designer responsible for the storylines of Wyatt Chic and Bray Wyatt in WWE 2K25, clarified that the quest draws heavy inspiration from the various vignettes featured on WWE TV. She mentioned that the story was not meant to be just a simple competition, like thumb wrestling.

Lissunburger also revealed that there were unused audio recordings and cutscenes from WWE 2K22 that the team initially intended to repurpose for WWE 2K24. However, following Bray Wyatt’s passing, the team felt it would be inappropriate to include his quest in the MyRise mode, even though the recordings had been completed.

She stated, "The primary inspiration for this quest came from the many vignettes I created for WWE TV. I also thought about using audio recordings and cutscenes from WWE 2K22, and we had plans to reuse Bray Wyatt’s content for 2K24 with some additional audio. But after his death, it just didn’t feel right. Including the Bray Wyatt quest in MyRise no longer made sense to us, and I wouldn’t have felt comfortable releasing it after all the audio was done."

This heartfelt storyline featuring Bray Wyatt has become a significant addition to the world of WWE 2K25. Considering that the content was originally intended for last year’s game, many fans believe the decision to postpone it for a year was the right call.

Fan Take: This update is hugely important for WWE fans as it honors Bray Wyatt’s legacy with the respect it deserves, rather than rushing incomplete content.
