AEW has renewed the contract of one of its veteran wrestlers.
Fightur Select recently shared behind-the-scenes information about Tony Khan’s promotion, revealing that the company has secured a new deal with “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard.
Menard’s previous contract, which was set to expire at a Texas event last month, has now been extended. The new agreement spans five years, keeping Menard with AEW through at least 2030. The 41-year-old wrestler is reportedly enthusiastic about continuing his journey with the promotion.
Matt Menard debuted in AEW in August 2021 alongside his longtime tag team partner Angelo Parker, collectively known as 2.0.
The duo became part of the Jericho Appreciation Society in early 2022 and stayed until July 2023, after which 2.0 and Daniel Garcia branched off to form their own faction.
While Menard has reduced his in-ring appearances, having competed only four times so far in 2025, he has been active as a commentator for AEW over the past two years.
It’s not just Menard who has taken on additional roles; a recent report also highlighted that one of AEW’s original talents is currently contributing backstage within the company. More details on this can be found in the linked report.
Fan Take: This contract renewal signals AEW’s commitment to its homegrown talent and the stability of its roster for the coming years. Fans can look forward to Menard’s continued influence both inside the ring and as a commentator, which enriches the overall storytelling and presentation of AEW events.
