AEW Gains New Producer: Former Wrestler Joins Behind the Scenes Team

Another AEW talent is currently contributing behind the scenes in the company. It has come to light that Angelico, a former member of TH2 who signed with AEW in 2019, is now serving as a promotional producer.

Moreover, a recent report by Fightful Select indicates that Angelico isn’t the only wrestler juggling dual responsibilities within AEW. The site reveals that “The Premier Athlete” Tony Nese has been acting as a coach and agent at Tony Khan’s promotions for a considerable period.

Similar to Angelico, Nese has scaled back his in-ring appearances over recent years, primarily wrestling under the ROH banner with occasional appearances on AEW shows. Tony Nese brings two decades of experience to the table, having worked with promotions like Evolve, Dragon Gate USA, and TNA since his 2005 debut.

His most notable time was with WWE, starting from the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic tournament. He competed in Raw’s Cruiserweight Division and 205 Live, even vying for the cruiserweight championship after winning the title at the WrestleMania 35 pre-show. Following his release due to COVID-related budget cuts, he joined AEW in late 2021.

Fan Take: This development underscores AEW’s commitment to leveraging veteran talent not just in the ring but also behind the scenes, which can enhance the overall quality of the product. For fans, it means that AEW is building a stronger, more well-rounded organization that values experience and diverse contributions, potentially leading to richer storytelling and better wrestling showcases.
