Jim Ross Labels Hulk Hogan TV Special as “Steroid Fluff,” Sparking Backlash from Lip Vince McMahon on Camera View

Jim Ross recently watched the special “TMZ Presents: The Real Hulk Hogan” and shared his thoughts on his “Grill JR” podcast. The WWE Hall of Famer discussed various aspects of the program, including Vince McMahon’s rare on-camera appearance since leaving WWE and TKO, as well as how the documentary handled some of Hogan’s most controversial moments.

Ross admitted that McMahon’s look during the interview caught his attention immediately. He described McMahon as appearing tired and worried, noting that his makeup seemed off—especially his colored eyebrows, which made him look much older and perhaps uncomfortable in a setting where he wasn’t in control.

Regarding the documentary itself, Ross cautioned fans not to expect a deep investigative piece. He pointed out that the only negative aspect covered was Hogan’s leaked sex tape from years ago, with the rest of the special showcasing a much softer, more flattering portrayal of Hogan. Ross called it a “steroid fluff piece” and expressed a wish that the special had gone deeper than what was presented.

Nevertheless, Ross agreed with McMahon’s assertion that despite the leaked tape, Hogan was not truly racist. He suggested Hogan might have made ignorant remarks, but he didn’t believe racism was part of his character.

Ross also speculated that McMahon might have second thoughts about participating in the interview. He guessed that sometimes people agree to projects and regret it once they begin, expressing surprise that McMahon allowed such extensive camera coverage in the special.

While Ross appreciated the tribute to Hogan’s legacy, he emphasized that the special wasn’t the kind of in-depth documentary some might have expected.
