AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm issued a tag team challenge ahead of a landmark episode of “AEW Dynamite,” leading up to the Forbidden Door event. On Wednesday’s show, after a six-woman tag match, Storm and Alex Windsor called out TBS Champion Mercedes Moné and ROH Women’s Champion Athena for a tag team bout in Glasgow, Scotland. This special episode will be broadcast from Scotland before the Forbidden Door event takes place in London on August 24th.
Storm and Athena were watching from the audience as Windsor, Willow Nightingale, and Queen Aminata defeated Moné, Tekra, and Sky Blue. After Windsor secured victory with the Sharpshooter submission, the women’s champions clashed in the crowd, moved down the ramp, and headed toward the ring amid a chaotic brawl involving other wrestlers. Storm and Windsor managed to separate Athena and Moné, with Storm issuing a tag match challenge laced with playful innuendos for the upcoming Glasgow showdown, advising Athena to “wear something under the quilt” for the match.
Windsor is one of three contenders—including representatives from Stardom and CMLL—vying for Moné’s TBS title in a fatal four-way match at Forbidden Door. Athena and Storm are also set for a showdown over AEW’s Women’s World Championship at the pay-per-view event.
