Tonight’s WWE SmackDown, airing October 17, 2025, promises an action-packed night live from the SAP Center in San Jose, California. On the post-WWE Crown Jewel show, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and “The Queen” Charlotte Flair will defend their titles against ZARIA (ZARIA, WWE NXT Women’s North American, and WWE Women’s Speed Champion Sol Luka). Additionally, undisputed WWE Champion “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes will kick off tonight’s show.

WWE SmackDown Results (10/17/25): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens with an aerial view of San Jose and the SAP Center.
We then get a video package recapping everything that happened at last weekend’s WWE Crown Jewel PLE and RAW with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin'” Rollins and The Vision.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then appears in the ring. Ardis welcomes you to our shows. Aldis then says there’s a match tonight between Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu. And Aldis stated that the match is now the No. 1 Contenders Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Ardis then says that the winner will face this man.
Cody Rhodes’ music then hits and Cody gets down to the ring. Cody started by saying that Seth Rollins hit him at Crown Jewel and it tore him to the bone. Cody says he doesn’t need to get in the ring anymore, but that’s not the case here. Cody then says he doesn’t need 20/20 vision to understand that he has his own issues with Bron Breaker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman. Cody then said Seth needed to take care of his business and he would take care of SmackDown’s business. Cody then said that his job at SmackDown was to watch the No. 1 Contender match with everyone in the Bay Area.
Cody then said he heard someone ask who the general manager was going to be. Cody then asks if he’s going to be Drew McIntyre. Then Cody said he might be Jacob Fatu, someone you might know. Cody then says he doesn’t know how this will turn out, but he’s ready. Then Cody said the lights were bright and the road to Saturday night’s main event was through San Jose.
We then see Solo Chicoa and the rest of the MFT walking behind us. Solo then interrupts Rey Fenix’s photo shoot. Solo tells Rei that it’s over. Ray then asks Solo what his problem is. Solo tells Ray that he has a problem. Rey then gets punched in the midsection and Solo tells MFT to get his ass out. Guards and officials then appear to stop the attack, and Solo and MFT leave.
Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair then make their way down to the ring for the first match of the night, followed by Zarka. Blake Monroe is then seen in the crowd as she faces Sol Luka for the WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship at Halloween Havoc.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Alexa Bliss and “The Queen” Charlotte Flair (c) vs. ZARIA (ZARIA, WWE NXT Women’s North American, WWE Women’s Speed Champion Sol Luka)
The match starts with Sol and Flair locking up. Flair then tightens the wristlock. Sol then gets a reversal and Flare gets a reversal of her own. Flair goes for an arm squeeze, but Sol gets back to his feet. Flair then tightens the wristlock and performs a Flair flip. Flair then kicks Sol and ZARIA. Flair then hits a slingshot rollup. ZARIA then hits a kick. Flair then hits a corner kick and sends Sol into the turnbuckle. Bliss tags in and hits a head scissors takedown. ZARIA then tags in and Bliss gets on ZARIA’s back as she locks in a sleeper. ZARIA then hits a snapmare, but Bliss hits a slap and some kicks followed by a dropkick. ZARIA then grabs Bliss, but Bliss escapes and ZARIA puts her in a waistlock. Bliss goes for Sister Abigail, but ZARIA escapes and hits a chokeslam.
Bliss then rolls to the floor followed by ZARIA. ZARIA then sends Bliss onto the apron and back into the ring. ZARIA is then on the verge of a fall. Furthermore, ZARIA delivers a strong Irish whip. ZARIA then goes to the turnbuckles and lifts Bliss up to apply a sleeper. ZARIA then let go and Bliss fell to the mat. ZARIA is then on the verge of a fall. ZARIA then hits an Irish whip and Bliss hits a forearm to Sol and ZARIA. In addition, Bliss hits Thes press and punches. ZARIA then hits a clothesline for a near fall. Sol then tags in and hits a hip in the corner. ZARIA then hits a splash, throws Sol onto Bliss and dropkicks him into the turnbuckle. Sol then nearly falls. Sol then locks him in a front facelock. Bliss then gets an inside cradle for a near fall. Bliss then sends Sol to the floor. Sol then returns to the ring to block the tag attempt and knocks Flair off the apron. Sol then hits an Irish whip and an elbow into the corner.
Zarya also tags in and hits a double back elbow and double elbow drop for a near fall. ZARIA then locks him in with a reverse chinlock. ZARIA then hits an Irish whip and goes back to the turnbuckles, but slips to his feet and adds a sleeper off the turnbuckles. Bliss then runs away and both women go down. ZARIA then stops Bliss and sends Bliss into the turnbuckle and a tag to Sol. Sol then hits a spinning faceplant. ZARIA then tags in and Sol goes up top and goes for a handstand twist splash but misses due to Bliss’ move. ZARIA follows with a kick and Bliss slams Sol to the floor. ZARIA then grabs Bliss and Bliss kicks her away. Flair then makes a tag and goes up top and hits a crossbody on Sol and Zarya. Flair then hits a chop on both women. Flair then hits a clothesline over ZARIA. Flair then hits a thrust kick on ZARIA and then hits a second one. Flair then hits a third and a fallaway slam. Flair then hits a groin chop on Sol.
Flair then hits the Flatliner into the turnbuckle for a near fall. Flair then applies a waistlock and Sol tags in. Flair then hits a kick to Zarya, but Sol hits a springboard clothesline and follows up with another clothesline. Sol then slams Bliss to the floor. Sol then hits a German suplex, but Flair blocks a dropkick and hits a Boston Crab. After that, Sol almost falls off the ground. Flair then goes for the figure four, but Sol kicks Flair into the corner, Sol hits the Sol Snatcher, and Bliss breaks. ZARIA then misses a baseball slider. Bliss then goes for a headscissors from the apron, but ZARIA catches her and swings Bliss into the ringside barrier. Flair then kicks ZARIA. Sol then hits Flair with a moonsault off the ring post. Sol then goes to Blake and they exchange a few words. Flair then clips Sol into the barrier at ringside. Flair then brings Sol back into the ring and she applies a figure four and a knee drop to the leg. Flair then applies again and bridges, causing Sol to tap out.

After the match, Flair and Bliss shake hands with their opponents.
Cody Rhodes was then seen walking behind him and was stopped by Jacob Fatu. Fatu then welcomes Cody to San Jose. Fatu says he’ll show Cody his true self once he’s done walking Drew’s dog. Then Fatu says you’ll see he’s all gas and no brakes. Cody and Fatu then shake hands.
Next, we see a clip of Aleister Black and Zelina Vega after Black’s victory over Damian Priest last week. Aleister Black then cuts a promo and says he’s been laying traps for weeks. Black says it was all calculated. Black said he and his wife made a plan to get things on the same page. Black then says that this was all part of the plan. Black says that was an unavoidable truth. Then Black says that there is no one more methodical and vicious than his wife. Black then puts his cards on the table, which he says are what you might call a necessary evil. Zelina then says that poison is poisonous.
Next, we look at the U.S. Championship Open Challenge and the return of Tama Tonga and MFT.
Then he saw The Miz and SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis and said he wanted to make it big. Nick then said he would take the advice and accept it. Sami Zayn shows up and asks where his match is. Then Nick says he was waiting for Shinsuke Nakamura’s rematch. Nick then said he had to deal with Solo and MFT. Sami then says he’s not going to come back and hide because he has something to prove. Sami then said this meant something to him. Sami said afterward that this meant something to the fans and locker room who were looking for an opportunity. Sami then says he’s going there and anyone who wants to confront him knows where he is. Nick then asks Miz and Miz says he’s good.
Sami Zayn then makes his way down to the ring for his next match of the night, entering the ring for an open challenge and waiting for his opponent. Then we meet The Miz and he says he’s tired of these no-nonsense challenges and Carmelo Hayes attacks The Miz from behind so they had to be separated by security.
Ilya Dragunov’s music then plays and he makes his way down to the ring for his next match of the night.
WWE United States Championship Open Challenge Match: Sami Zayn (c) Vs. Ilya Dragunov’s “Mad Dragon”
The match begins with both men shaking hands before Ilya throws a forearm. Both men then trade forearms back and forth, and Ilya hits a back elbow. Sami then hits a clothesline. Sami then hits a chop and goes for a suplex, but Elijah escapes and hits a whistlock. Sami then presses the standing switch. Ilya then presses the standing switch. Sami then hits some forearms. Sami then hits a forearm and Ilya hits a jumping enzuigiri. Illya then hits a running knee into the corner and a Yakuza kick to the head. Illya then hits him with a boot to the head. Sami then blocks a snapmare and Elijah hits a chop and a snapmare. Ilya then hits a back senton for a near fall. Elijah then hits him with a forearm to the back and a boot to the back of the head. Elijah then hits a slam and heads into the turnbuckle. Elijah then goes up top and Sami hits a forearm and Elijah falls to the floor.
Sami then goes to the floor and sends Elijah back into the ring. Sami then hits a boot to the chest. Ilya then goes to the apron. Sami then suplexes Elijah back into the ring, but Elijah gets a near fall. Sami then hits an elbow drop and a chop. Illya then hits a chop and a headbutt. After that, Ilya hits a series of kicks, knees, and chops. Sami then hits a chop and forearm. Sami then punches Elijah in the corner and follows up with a forearm. Sami then hits a clothesline for a near fall. More chops by Sami and a series of forearms by Ilya. Both men then go back and forth with forearms and European uppercuts.
Illya then performs an elbow and follows up with a tornado DDT. Sami then goes for a helluva kick, but Elijah hits a jumping boot for a near fall. Furthermore, Illya tries to perform a German suplex, but he holds his ground with a stiff waist. Sami then hits a series of elbows, but Elijah survives and hits a German suplex. After that, Ilya holds out, but Sami hits him with more elbows. Sami then gets a victory roll for a nearfall. Sami then hits a German suplex but he endures. Elijah then locks in a side headlock, but Sami regains control. Elijah then hits a series of elbows and Sami hits a German suplex. Elijah then hits an elbow to the side of the head, then Elijah picks Sami up and slams him into the mat with a forearm.
Ilya then went to the top, but missed a double stomp and rolled through. Sami then hits a Michinoku driver for a near fall. Sami then hits a chop and Elijah goes down. Elijah then goes to the apron and Sami goes to the apron as well. Elijah then hits an elbow to the midsection and hoists Sami onto his shoulders. Sami then hits a series of elbows and goes for a brainbuster on the apron, but he catches Elijah on the ropes and they both fall to the floor. Both men then returned to the ring, beating the count. Ilya then tells Sami to punch him and Sami kicks Ilya against the ropes. Ilya and Sami then slap and chop each other. Elijah then hits a headbutt on Sami. Ilya then almost collapses. Sami then slapped Elijah, who slapped him back. Ilya then hit a kick and set up a powerbomb, which he hit for a near fall.
Ilya then kicked Sami in the head several times. Sami then returns the favor by kicking Ilya several times. Then Elijah hits a chop and he tells Sami to hit him. Sami then hits a chop on Elijah. Sami then hits Elijah with a crossface. Elijah then hits a knee to the head and a forearm to the back. Elijah then goes up top and goes for a back senton, but Sami stops Elijah on the turnbuckle. Sami then goes to the turnbuckle and Elijah slaps Sami and forces him to the mat. Elijah then hits a back senton off the turnbuckle for a near fall.
Elijah then backs Sami into the corner and puts him on the turnbuckle. Elijah then hits a chop on Sami and Sami punches back. Elijah then punches and chops Sami. Sami then hits some forearms and chops Elijah off the turnbuckle. Elijah then stands up and chops Sami. Elijah then sets up for a superplex. Ilya then goes for a hydrogen bomb, but Sami boots, and Sami tries a helluva kick, but misses. Illya then hits a wrist clutch exploder for a near fall. Sami then kicks and Illya hits a running knee for a near fall. Illya then delivers a spinning backfist to the head and foot. Sami then evaded the third shot and Illya evaded the Blue Thunder Bomb. Additionally, Ilya hits the Konstantin Special. Ilya then goes for Torpedo Moscow, but Sami takes the shot. Sami then hits a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall.
Ilya then falls into the corner. Sami then looks around to prepare for a helluva kick. Sami is standing in the corner, but Solo Chicore appears on stage and Sami is distracted. Next, Solo moves his fingers and goes deeper. Sami then stopped Elijah and hit him with an explosive into the turnbuckle. Illya then hits Sami with a flying shoulder tackle and an H-bomb for the win.
The winner of the Open Challenge Match is new WWE United States Champion “The Mad Dragon” Ilya Dragunov!
After the match, Sami stands up and Dragunov celebrates in the ring. The two come face to face, but MFT escapes and attacks both men. Rey Fenix attempts to escape, but is stopped by Tara Tonga. He then chokeslammed Rey to the mat. Solo Chicoa then grabs the mic, but the fans boo. Solo then asks them if they forgot. Solo then said MFT would run SmackDown. Solo says he will gain everything his family lost and become the champion of the family tree once again.
The lights then go out and a Bo Dallas promotional video is shown. Dallas says the door will open if you knock, but are you ready for what’s waiting on the other side? The video then cuts to reveal Wyatt Sixx behind the ring apron. Both teams then face each other. The MFTs then leave the ring after Wyatt Sixx enters the ring and Solo tells them to stand down.

Next, watch highlights from the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship match between Tiffany Stratton and Stephanie Vaquel, then head to the back where Kathy Kelly interviews Tiffany Stratton. Cassie asks Tiffany about her loss at Crown Jewels and how it affected her. Tiffany says things won’t change. Tiffany then says Stephanie is amazing and pushed her to the limit. Tiffany then says that one loss doesn’t define who she is. Then Kiana James shows up and says he served Stephanie, not her, because of the loss. Tiffany then says that maybe Kiana doesn’t have that. Tiffany then challenges Kiana to a match next week, which Kiana accepts.
Next, we meet Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin to talk about their anniversary in WWE and how it took them two weeks to win the title. Sabin then says he should go for the title again. Angel and Belt appear and say that things were going well when they started, but MCMG didn’t work out. Sabin then asks them if they remember who they beat in their debut match. Sabin then says it was you. And they propose an annual match.
The Motor City Machine Guns then make their way down to the ring for their next match of the night, followed by Los Garza.
Tag match: Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin) vs. Legado del Fantasma’s Los Garza (Angel, Belt)
The match begins with Angel and Alex, with Belt distracting Alex and Angel punching Belt from behind and kicking Alex. Angel then locks in a side headlock. Sabin tags in and Alex blocks a kick, then hits Angel with a flatliner/missile dropkick combination. Sabin then hits Angel and Belt with a suicide dive. Sabin then brings Angel back into the ring, Belt grabs Sabin’s leg and Angel kicks Sabin. Angel then throws a punch. Angel then chops Sabin into the corner but the Irish whip splash misses. Alex then tags in and chops Angel. Then Belt drags Angel out of the corner and Alex hits the turnbuckle. Berto and Angel then kicked Alex.
Berto then falls to the floor and kicks Alex in the midsection. Alex was then brought back into the ring for a near fall. Berto then kicked Alex and the referee cautioned him. Alex then goes to the apron and Belt suplexes Alex back into the ring, but Alex blocks it. Alex then tries to take Belt to the apron. Alex then hits Angel with an elbow, but Belt hits a series of forearms. Angel also tags in and hits a knee kick to the head and a kick to the back of the head. Angel then chokes Alex in the ropes and hits him with a few forearm punches. Angel then kicks Alex in the chest and applies an armbar and chinbar. Alex then punches Angel, Angel hits a kick, and Angel punches Alex. Sabin shoves Angel off of Alex, but Angel drives Alex into the ropes. Belt kicks Alex off the apron. Angel then locks in a single leg crab.
Alex then hits Angel with a series of kicks, but Angel kicks Alex and goes back to a one-legged crab. Alex then locks in a neckbreaker and Belt tags in. He then blocks a tag from Alex, but Alex kicks the belt away and Sabin makes the tag, hits a crossbody on both of them and hits a double clothesline. Sabin then hits a German suplex on Angel, a backslide on the belt, and a crossfix for a nearfall. Sabin then drives Berto into the corner and Alex tags in. Double hip toss and kicks to Berto and Angel. Berto then hits a sit-out one-arm powerbomb for a near fall. Angel then tags in and hits Sabin with a kick. Sabin then gets a blocked kick and Angel gets Sabin to his feet and goes for the Gory Special. Belt then tags in and hits a Slingshot Cutter, and Angel hits a Golly Bomb for a nearfall, but Alex breaks it up.
Alex then misses a sliding baseball and Angel hits a superkick. Sabin then hits a kick to the apron. Belt then kicks Sabin off the apron. Berto then hits a Fosbury Flop on Sabin and Alex. Angel then tags in and goes for a double press slam, but Alex makes the save. Sabin then hits a kick. Sabin then sends Belt into the ring post. Sabin and Alex then hit a kick. They then attack Skull and Bones and emerge victorious.

We then see Axiom and Nathan Fraser in the locker room. Fraser tells Axiom that he needs to do something to make an impact. Axiom then says they need to find the right location. Then Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa and Candice LeRae appear. Gargano and Ciampa then talk about their plan. Afterwards, Ciampa said he stayed out of the way so the Street Profits could not accuse them. Champa then says that they are the same people he thought they were. Ciampa then says nothing has changed in the tag division. Ciampa and Gargano then talk about getting silly masks for Halloween. They then take Axiom’s mask and Axiom challenges them to a match.
We then headed to another backstage area where we saw scaffolding over Jacob Fatu and officials removing it. Fatu is then shown bleeding from his mouth.
Nick Aldis then asks Fatu if he saw what happened. Then Drew’s music hits and Nick says he has somewhere to go. Drew then went down to the ring and started telling the crowd that he had something to say. Then Drew says it looks like your son, Fatu, whose gums are bleeding, is all gas and has no brakes. Drew then asks the referee to raise the new number one contender’s hand. Nick Aldis then came out and told Drew to wait a minute. Ardis then says he doesn’t know what happened there, but it was terrible. Ardis then asks if you had anything to do with it. Drew then says he had nothing to do with it. Then Drew says he’s jumping through hoops to get what’s his. Then Drew says you’ve known each other for 20 years. Drew then told him to do the right thing and make him the number one contender and give him the match now.
Then Cody Rhodes came out and said it was all over. Cody then asks if this group of people would like to see your story. Cody then says he wanted a match between the No. 1 Contender. Cody then says he thinks they should give him something now. Cody then says he wants a title match. And Cody said, let’s do it right here. Both men then fight outside the ring, with Cody hitting punches and kicks. Cody then Irish whips Drew over the ringside fence and into the crowd. Cody then punches Drew and sends him into the ringside barrier. Cody then sent Drew into the boards and he hit Drew in the midsection with a chair. Cody then punched Drew in the head. Cody sends Drew into the trash can. Cody then hit a punch and they returned to the ring. Cody then rakes the eye and headbutts Drew. Cody then punches and chokes Drew with a chain. Cody then sends Drew over the barrier at ringside.
Drew then punches Cody in the throat and tries to send Cody into the announce desk, but Cody blocks him and sends Drew into the table. Drew then sends Cody into the ringside barrier and punches him. Cody and Drew then throw a flurry of punches and Cody Irish slams Drew into the ring post. They then got in the ring and Cody told them to ring the bell.
Undisputed WWE Championship Match: “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes (c) vs. “Scottish Warrior” Drew McIntyre
The match starts with Drew hitting an overhead belly-to-belly suplex and he punches Cody. Cody then hits a double leg takedown and a flurry of punches. Drew then hits a double shove to the throat and a release suplex. Cody then punches Drew into the corner off the turnbuckle. Cody then bit his forehead. Drew then hits a back elbow for a near fall. Drew then locks in an armbar and chinbar. Cody then hits a flurry of jabs, but Drew kicks Cody and avoids a bionic elbow. Drew then hits a Future Shock for a near fall. Drew then chops Cody a few times. Drew then hits punches and kicks. Drew then hits a series of chops and Cody returns a chop. Drew then hits a headbutt and more chops. Cody then hits a kick and a dropdown punch. Then Cody hits the Cody Cutter.
Cody then attempts a suicide dive, but Drew hits a forearm to stop him. Drew then sends Cody over the ringside fence and into the timekeeper area. Cody then hit Drew with the belt and the referee called for the bell.
The winner of the Undisputed WWE Championship match by DQ is “Scottish Warrior” Drew McIntyre, but “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes still remains!
After the game, Drew put his thumbs in his eyes as Cody adjusted the announce desk. Drew then wakes Cody up, but Cody runs off and Cody sends Drew into the announce desk and they both climb on top. Cody then sets up for the Crossroads on the table and security comes out and pulls Drew to safety. The other officers then raise their hands to try to stop Cody. Cody then goes up top and hits a crossbody on Drew and security. Cody then wants more, but Drew heads down the aisle as Cody’s music hits and the show draws to a close.
