Kaling launched an attack on Tatum Paxley during the match.
This Tuesday night, in the main event of NXT Gold Rush Week 1, the NXT Women’s Champion defended her title against Jaycee Jayne.
Izzy Dame, Nico Vance, and Shawn Spears were in the Champion’s corner, while Jayne had support from Fatal Influence Partners.
As the match concluded, Dame repeatedly interfered, trying to aid Paxley and place the championship belt on her. However, Paxley rejected these underhanded tactics.
Ultimately, this decision cost her the match; Vance and Spears prevented the champion from re-entering the ring, while Dame took Paxley down with a stunning kick.
Dame then tossed her former ally back into the ring, allowing Jayne to pin her, making Jayne a two-time NXT Women’s Champion. The show wrapped up with Kaling standing over an unconscious Paxley.
Tatum Paxley had just been crowned champion at Halloween Havoc last month. Following this defeat, she not only lost her title but also broke the record held by Indi Hartwell, becoming the fastest woman to win a title in just 23 days.
It will be interesting to see who steps up to challenge Jaycee Jayne next, as the previous champion is likely to engage in a feud with Izzy Dame.
Fan Take: This latest twist in the storyline adds depth to the women’s division, creating fresh rivalries that are sure to engage fans. With Jaycee Jayne’s rise as a two-time champion, NXT’s landscape is poised for exciting developments and intense matches ahead.
