CM Punk expressed his gratitude for being involved in John Cena’s retirement tour. In a recent interview with Mostly Sports, he talked about how WWE’s pay system has evolved and shared his ambition to wrestle at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.

The former world champion also reflected on experiencing Cena’s retirement tour firsthand and having the opportunity to face him one last time at this year’s Night of Champions. Punk mentioned that returning to WWE in 2023 felt destined, saying that the universe guides you to where you need to be.

CM Punk further commented on WWE’s portrayal of Cena as the greatest of all time, acknowledging that opinions can differ but emphasizing Cena’s unique merit. He described Cena as someone who sets an example, combining box office appeal, boundless charisma, excellent microphone skills, and public relations expertise—solidifying his status as the GOAT for the last two decades.

He remarked, “It’s truly rewarding to see him take a graceful bow. While the label ‘GOAT’ is subjective, in my career, I’ve never seen anyone more deserving. He’s been a role model, a major box office draw, and a charismatic star who excels on the mic and handles PR flawlessly. He’s been 100% the GOAT for 20 years.”
