Get Ready for AEW Blood & Guts 2025: The Ultimate Showdown Awaits!

3 Min Read

It appears that the women’s Blood & Guts match faced several challenges, including injuries that kept Queen Aminata and Penelope Ford from participating, and the teams were not finalized for quite some time—stemming from Jamie Hayter’s confrontation with the Triangle of Madness on "AEW Collision" in late September. Nevertheless, I believe this match was significant, marking a pivotal moment in AEW’s history and surpassed the men’s Blood & Guts match in excitement.

This special edition of "Dynamite" left much to be appreciated, feeling more akin to a short pay-per-view event rather than an ordinary weekly episode. It would have been preferable for AEW to have the women headline this show; ideally, they could have omitted the men’s match entirely to let the women take center stage. Although I found the men’s match more enjoyable than expected once it concluded, it initially started off slowly compared to the women’s match.

The women’s bout kicked off with high energy, quickly delivering impactful moments, while the men’s contest didn’t seem to gain momentum until Jon Moxley made his entrance. Although the women’s match had some rough edges—including issues with camera work that affected Harley Cameron’s strikes—the ensuing chaos among all competitors truly embodied the excitement suitable for a main event. While the women might not have had as prominent a position as they deserved, the match was thrilling nonetheless.

In my opinion, the women’s match showcased greater talent and star power, featuring TBS Champion Mercedes Mohn, AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander, and the captivating "Timeless" Toni Storm, who draws attention regardless of her title status. I believe the audience would have embraced a main event slot for them. Furthermore, the storytelling woven throughout for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament added depth, providing more stakes than the men’s match.

I thoroughly enjoyed both matches; however, it feels like the women’s team deserved a more prominent recognition in such a historic event.

This development is crucial for wrestling fans as it signifies a growing emphasis on women’s wrestling and their storytelling within the sport. Promoting women’s matches to main event status could reshape the narrative of women’s wrestling, potentially drawing in a larger fan base and elevating the overall quality of promotion in the industry.
