Kenny Omega expressed admiration for AEW star Samoa Joe’s recent involvement in video games, describing it as highly inspiring and shared his desire to achieve similar success. The game Like a Dragon: Hawaiian Pirate Yakuza, launched in February 2025 by SEGA and Yakuza Studios, featured Samoa Joe as an antagonist named Raymond Law, with Joe providing both his likeness and voice for the character. Known for his love of gaming and the Like a Dragon series, Omega praised Joe’s contribution and revealed his goal to appear in video games beyond his wrestling persona.
In an interview with SHAK Wrestling, Omega said, “Having Samoa Joe in that game was so inspirational that I would love to someday follow in his footsteps and create a fully fleshed-out character that isn’t just Kenny Omega the wrestler. Whether I’m Kenny Omega or a completely different character like Tyson Smith, it would be exciting to play any role. This is a dream I hope to fulfill outside of wrestling.”
Omega had previously made an appearance in the 2023 remake of Like A Dragon: Ishin as a special “trooper card” players could use, but not as a unique character with a storyline.
Fan Take: This development is exciting for AEW fans as it highlights the growing crossover between wrestling and gaming, offering wrestlers new platforms to broaden their influence and connect with fans. Kenny Omega’s ambition to create diverse gaming characters could open innovative opportunities that blend sports entertainment and interactive media, potentially attracting a wider audience to AEW.
