Ricky Saints is open to facing Cody Rhodes again in a rematch.
The two wrestlers have been connected since Saints debuted in AEW in 2020, responding to Rhodes’ TNT Title Open Challenge, and they have maintained a close friendship since then. Ricky faced scrutiny after being seen with Cody at the 2023 Royal Rumble event, even though he was still under contract with Tony Khan’s promotion.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Saints expressed his enthusiasm for a potential rematch with his mentor under WWE. He acknowledged the significance of their story, especially as Bishop Dyer highlighted their history together.
“It has a lot of meaning. When you add real-life friendships to the mix along with our shared history, the narrative takes on a life of its own. Over time, we’ll reach that moment. It’s amusing when fans consider it a dream match, and I fully support that.”
After nearly a year away from the limelight following his stint in AEW, Ricky Saints has revitalized his career since joining NXT in February. He challenged for the North American Championship in April and went on to defeat Oba Femi at No Mercy last month, securing the NXT Championship.
This news is significant for NXT fans as it hints at potential high-stakes matches and compelling storylines involving beloved wrestlers like Ricky Saints and Cody Rhodes. Such rivalries not only enhance the drama of wrestling but also keep fans engaged and excited about future events in the sport.
