CM Punk Advocates for WWE to Rock Chicago’s Legendary Venue with Their Events

2 Min Read

WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has performed in nearly every major venue across North America, including iconic places like Madison Square Garden in New York and Ford Field in Detroit, as well as various arenas in his hometown, Chicago. However, there is one notable Chicago venue where Punk has yet to wrestle—Wrigley Field. During a recent appearance on the Mostly Sports podcast, Punk shared why this stadium has remained elusive.

He said, "Wrigley Field, wrestle at Wrigley Field, I’m putting it out there now. The executives are eager and want to put on a WWE show there. The issue is that they would have to disrupt Major League Baseball by not announcing their schedule ahead of time." Punk explained that Wrigley does host concerts in the summer, but the timing doesn’t provide enough lead time to book dates for WWE events. He added that he was hoping for the Los Angeles Dodgers to win the World Series and extend the MLB lockout to 2027 because, in his words, "I’m 100% selfish. If baseball ends in 2027, that means opening up Wrigley Field for WWE."

Typically, baseball stadiums are used for major WWE events like the Royal Rumble, while WrestleMania and SummerSlam are held in NFL stadiums during their offseason. Given Punk’s strong ties to Chicago, the idea of WWE holding an event at Wrigley Field is certainly within the realm of possibility.
