A New Champion Rises: WWE Crowned a Fresh Holder of the Vacant Title

2 Min Read

On the November 25th episode of NXT airing on the CW Network, the vacant WWE Speed Women’s Championship found a new champion. A few weeks prior, Sol Luka vacated the title due to an injury. Though Luka had the option to have Zarya defend the championship on her behalf, after Zarya lost a defense match for the NXT Women’s North American Title, Luka decided to relinquish the title entirely.

Zarya participated in the tournament to claim the vacant championship and advanced to the final round against Fallon Henry. This final match was broadcast after being recorded last week at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, alongside Night 2 of Gold Rush Night. Zarya reached the finals by defeating Wren in the semifinals, while Fallon Henry secured her spot by overcoming Skylar Ray.

In the decisive match, Fallon Henry defeated Zarya to become the new WWE Speed Women’s Champion. This victory marks Henry’s third title reign in NXT, as she will hold the NXT Women’s North American Championship from October 2024 to February 2025. Previously, she also held the now-defunct NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship with Kiana James earlier in 2023.

Fan Take: Fallon Henry’s return as champion reaffirms her rising star status in WWE, providing fresh excitement for NXT’s women’s division. This development not only elevates competition but also signals promising storylines and rivalries ahead, crucial for maintaining fan engagement and the sport’s growing popularity.
