Samoa Joe recently captured his second AEW World Championship at AEW Full Gear, and Eddie Kingston is already positioning himself as a potential challenger. During Full Gear, Hook surprisingly handed the AEW World Championship to “Hangman” Adam Page to help Samoa Joe regain the title, revealing that his split from The Ops was staged. On the AEW Collision Thanksgiving Special, Eddie Kingston defeated Katsuyori Shibata of The Ops with a DDT and then issued a direct challenge to Samoa Joe, who is part of the dominant faction.
In a promo leading up to their “Collision” match, Kingston expressed that he still considers Hook a friend but is aware that Hook might face consequences from Adam Page for his actions at Full Gear. Kingston also warned Joe against influencing Hook negatively and offered a challenge to face him at “AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming.” Kingston passionately stated that after being sidelined for 18 months due to a knee injury, the only peace he finds is in the ring, urging Joe not to underestimate him.
So far, Samoa Joe has not responded to Kingston’s challenge. The “Dynamite: Winter Is Coming” event is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10th, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Fan Take: This challenge adds serious anticipation for AEW fans, as it sets up a clash between two fiercely determined competitors with deep storylines fueling their rivalry. The match could become a pivotal moment for both wrestlers and potentially reshape the AEW World Championship landscape.
