WWE Champion CM Punk Stars in Netflix’s Romantic Comedy ‘The Bodyguard’

Hollywood is reaching out once again to WWE Superstar and current WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk. According to an exclusive report by Deadline on December 3rd, Punk is set to star in the upcoming romantic comedy “The Bodyguard,” a Netflix adaptation of Katherine Center’s 2022 novel.

Details about the plot and its faithfulness to the book remain unclear, as Netflix has not provided comments. However, Punk’s role is described as a physically imposing security team member, known for his loyalty and sense of humor. The story follows a serious bodyguard assigned to protect an action star during the holiday season, with romance blossoming just in time for Christmas. Punk will join a star-studded cast including Leighton Meester, Jared Padalecki, Andie MacDowell, Walker Hayes, Noah Lalonde, and Toby Sandeman. The film is directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, recognized for the 2006 film “Aquamarine.” No official release date has been announced yet.

In addition to this project, Punk lent his voice to the character Officer Zebra in Disney’s “Zootopia 2,” released on November 26th, alongside Roman Reigns. He is also set to appear in “Night Patrol,” a vampire film coming to select theaters via Shudder on January 16, 2026, featuring actors like Justin Long, Jermaine Fowler, and several rappers. Punk has previously showcased a penchant for vampire and horror genres, appearing in films like “Jacob’s Wife” (2021), “The Girl on the Third Floor,” and the remake of David Cronenberg’s “The Rabid” (both in 2019).

Outside of acting, CM Punk remains focused on his WWE career. He is currently the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, having won the title from Jey Uso on November 1st in a match for the vacant championship. On a recent episode of WWE RAW aired December 1st, it was announced that Punk’s next challenger will be Bron Breaker in a title match set to take place on RAW, which will be streamed on Netflix on January 5, 2026.
