AEW announcer Jim Ross has reduced his workload over the last two years due to ongoing health concerns. In 2024, he called just 10 AEW shows and has been off since August’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event. He is expected to call only about eight shows in 2025. However, Ross recently hinted that he will return behind the commentary desk soon. On the latest episode of “Grill JR,” his co-host Conrad Thompson mentioned the first AEW Dynamite show of 2026 scheduled for January 7 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ross, originally from Oklahoma State, confirmed that he will be part of the show, encouraging fans to get tickets and attend. He promised an exciting night filled with tradition and quality entertainment, confident that AEW president Tony Khan will deliver an unforgettable event.

Ross, a longtime Oklahoma Sooners supporter, lived in his home state most of his life before relocating to Jacksonville, Florida, in the 2020s to be near AEW’s headquarters. Recently, Ross announced plans to sell his Jacksonville condo and move back to Oklahoma next year to be closer to his support network and longtime doctor.

Fan Take: Jim Ross returning to AEW Dynamite is a big moment for fans who appreciate his iconic voice and expertise. His presence brings authenticity and emotional weight to AEW broadcasts, signaling that the company values tradition while continuing to grow the sport.
