Top AEW star MJF, who last appeared in the ring at AEW All Out in September, is set to make a comeback soon. MJF was defeated by Mark Brisco in a Table N Tax match at AEW All Out Toronto on September 20th and has been absent since. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, MJF’s absence was due to filming commitments for the movie Violent Night 2. While no exact return date has been provided, Meltzer suggests MJF might reappear at the upcoming Diamond Ring Battle Royal, a contest he has consistently won since its start in 2019.
Violent Night 2 is a Christmas action-comedy featuring David Harbor as Santa Claus, expected to release in December 2026. The Diamond Ring Battle Royal is scheduled for December 17th during AEW’s Holiday Bash in Manchester, England, with the finalists battling again the following week on Dynamite. The winner will earn a title shot against the AEW World Champion on January 14th. AEW owner Tony Khan has previously mentioned MJF’s acting pursuits, including his role in Happy Gilmore 2 earlier this year.
Fan Take: MJF’s return is significant for AEW fans as it promises the revival of one of the most electrifying characters in wrestling, likely impacting major storylines. His participation in the Diamond Ring Battle Royal could redefine the starting point for new rivalries, adding fresh excitement to AEW programming.
