WWE Saturday Night Main Event Results (12/13/25): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show begins with Joe Tessitore welcoming us and narrating the arrival of Shawn Michaels (talking to Johnny Gargano), Trish Stratus, Kurt Angle, and Mark Henry. Actors Jon Bernthal and Metro Boomin were then shown in separate parts of the crowd, and John Cena’s locker room door was shown.

A video package about Cena narrated by Paul Levesque is then shown, and Pyro takes a shot from the ring. Tessitore then narrates the arrival of Cody Rhodes, Oba Femi, Bayley, Sol Luka, AJ Styles, Dragon Lee, Jevon Evans, and Leon Slater. Gunther is then shown walking backstage as the crowd boos.

Joe Tessitore then stands at a podium with a desk and introduces Stephanie McMahon as his co-host. Joe then asks what this means for everyone. Stephanie said the building has electricity. And she says everyone is here to pay homage to a true legend. Joe then talks about John’s desire to showcase young talent. Stephanie then says it’s no wonder John wanted his last night to be about a rising star.

Cody Rhodes then steps down to the ring for the first match of the night, followed by Oba Femi.

Champion vs Champion match: Undisputed WWE Champion “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes vs. WWE NXT Champion “The Ruler of NXT” Oba Femi

The match begins with both men exchanging words. Both men then lock up and Oba shoves Cody. They both then lock up again and Cody tightens up with a side headlock and hammerlock. Oba then goes for a back elbow, but Cody avoids it. Cody then applies a waistlock and side headlock. Cody goes for between the legs, but Oba blocks the dropdown punch. Ohba then hits a Uranage backbreaker. Ohba then delivers a series of punches to the ribs and head. Ohba then hits an elbow to the top of the head. Oba then hits an Irish whip, but Cody lands a few forearms. Oba then sends Cody into the turnbuckles and throws Cody across the ring. Oba then hits an Irish whip, and Cody floats up and goes for a powerslam, but Oba blocks it. Then Ohba hits a slam for a near fall.

Oba then hits a forearm and Cody hits a kick. Ohba then hits an uppercut to the throat. Ohba then hits a knocking backbreaker for a near fall. Ohba then hits a Northern Lariat. Oba then goes for a belly-to-back suplex, but Cody stands up. Oba then misses the shoulder on Koerer and hits the ring post. Cody then hits a flying forearm, but Oba deflects it. Oba then charges into the corner and Cody moves. Cody then hits a powerslam. Cody then hits the Cody Cutter for a near fall. Cody goes for a Cody Cutter, but Oba catches Cody. Cody then sends Oba to the floor, Cody goes for a suicide dive and Oba hits a forearm to Cody. Oba then lunged at Cody, Cody fell, and Oba went over the top rope to the floor. Cody then makes a suicide dive. Cody then dives to the floor again, but Oba returns to the ring and hits a spinebuster for a nearfall.

Oba then tries to get Cody to stand up, but Cody stands up. Cody then hits a dropdown uppercut, but Oba clotheslines Cody over the top rope to the floor. Oba then goes to the floor and plants a running European uppercut over the announce desk. Cody bleeds from the head and both men return to the ring. Ohba then hits a chokeslam for a near fall. Oba goes for a pop-up powerbomb, but Cody jumps over Oba and hits a double jump Cody Cutter for a near fall. Drew McIntyre then comes down to the ring and attacks Cody.

The winner of the Champion vs. Champion match by disqualification is the undisputed WWE Champion “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes!

After the match, Drew punches Cody, but Oba pulls Drew away from Cody. Drew then shoves Oba and Oba pushes Drew to the mat. Cody then hits a Cody Cutter on Drew. Oba then hits a chokeslam on Drew. Drew then leaves the ring. Cody threw the title belt to Oba and Cody raised Oba’s hand. Michael Cole then says that Cody is in the present and Oba is in the future, but he doesn’t think the future is that far away. Oba then raises Cody’s arm and the two shake hands as Cody’s entrance theme plays.

Cole and Barrett then praise Oba Femi while sitting at his desk. They then promote the women’s match and Cena’s locker door is shown.

A video will then be shown in which NBC Today Show staff members Tyrese Haliburton, Jordanna Brewster, Eli Manning, Snoop Dogg, Peyton Manning and Jimmy Fallon wish Cena well in his retirement.

A video will then be shown of Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Bayley, Rey Mysterio, Charlotte Flair, Jey Uso, Stephanie McMahon and CM Punk paying tribute to John Cena. Punk tearfully stated that he would not have returned to WWE if it wasn’t for Cena. And he said that, contrary to popular belief, Cena was an inspiration to him.

Bayley and Lyla Valkyria then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night, with Bayley hugging Trish Stratus in the crowd along the way, followed by Sol Luka and Zarya.

Single match: Bayley vs. NXT’s Sol Luka

The match starts with both women locking up, with Bayley locking up from a side headlock to a waistlock. Sol then hits a standing switch and Bayley hits a side headlock takedown. Sol then gets a rollup for a nearfall. Bayley then locks in an armbar and hits an elbow to the shoulder. Bayley then hits an arm squeeze, but Sol lands a cartwheel. Bayley then hits an arm choke. Sol then takes Bayley down with a handstand rana. Bayley then locks up with a wristlock and an arm choke. Sol then lands on his feet with a hip toss and hits an X-Factor. Bayley then goes to the floor and Bayley goes up to the apron and drops Sol into the ropes. Bayley goes for a dropkick from the corner, but Sol blocks it. Sol then avoids a leg sweep and hits Bayley with a kick. Sol then missed a moonsault into the ring post and Bayley hit a forearm.

Both women then return to the ring and Bayley hits a forearm and she tries to shoulder Sol, but Sol fights back with an inside cradle. After that, Sol approaches autumn again. Sol hits a leg sweep, then jumps over Bayley and hits a thrust kick. Sol then sends Bayley to the floor and Sol sets up the Sasuke Special on Bayley. Sol then misses a springboard splash as Bayley moves. Bayley then hits a sunset flip powerbomb into the turnbuckle for a near fall. Bayley then hits a knee to the back and locks in a rear chinlock. Sol then gets a rollup for a nearfall. Bayley then misses a splash into the corner.

Sol then hits a series of forearms and chops. Sol then hits a back elbow, an Irish whip, followed by a German suplex. Sol then goes to the turnbuckle and she kicks Bayley. Sol then performs a cartwheel on the ropes and hits a DDT for a near fall. Sol then comes off the ropes and Bayley catches her and hits her with a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Bayley then hits a forearm and goes for a Saito suplex, but Sol blocks it. Bayley then places Sol in the Tree of Woe and hits a double jump elbow drop for a near fall.

Sol then backheel kicks and backslides for a near fall. Both women are then trapped together and Bayley gears up for the Rose Plant, but Sol stands on her head and escapes. Furthermore, Sol hits a running knee for a near fall. Bayley then stays upright and pulls Sol off the turnbuckle and avoids the Sol Snatcher. Bayley then hit the Rose Plant and Sol put her foot on the ropes to stop the count. Bayley then hits some forearms and hits a Saito suplex. Bayley goes for an elbow drop on the turnbuckle, but Sol gets a knee up. More O’Connor rolls from Sol, Sol hits the Sol Snatcher, but Bayley rolls onto the apron. Bayley then gets a victory roll for a near fall. After that, Sol achieved a come-from-behind victory.

The single match winner is NXT’s Sol Luka!

After the match, a smiling ZARIA enters the ring and celebrates with Sol Luka. Later, Lyra Valkyrie consoles Bailey, who then walks up to Sol and shakes his hand. Bayley then has all four women raise their arms and they all salute in honor of John Cena.

We then got a video package of Sheamus, Rob Van Dam, Corey Graves, cameraman Stu, Michael Hayes, Michael Cole, and Cody Rhodes thanking John Cena. Michael Cole then mentions other announcers who sat next to Cena on commentary during his career.

Afterwards, footage of Undertaker and The Rock paying tribute to Cena was shown. The Rock’s video was shot poolside, selfie-style.

Then Stephanie says that her athletic ability is substandard. Then Joe said this show feels different because it’s so focused on one moment in time. Joe asks how this feels different and Stephanie says everyone is waiting for Cena’s final match.

Jevon Evans and Leon Slater then go down to the ring for the next match of the night, followed by Dragon Lee and AJ Styles.

Tag match: WWE World Tag Team Champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles and LWO’s Dragon Lee vs. “Young OG” Jevon Evans and TNA X Division Champion “Youngest Chief” Leon Slater

The match begins with Leon and Evans hitting kicks and Evans hitting AJ with a plancha. Leon then hits Lee with a plancha over the ring post. Slater then hits a crossbody on Lee and Evans tags in. Evans hits a frog splash but gets a nearfall. Leon tags in and Evans throws punches. Slater then hits a clothesline in the corner. Leon then runs into a snap mare and nearly falls. Leon then punches, Lee kicks Leon and hits Evans with an elbow. Leon then misses his shoulder in the corner and Lee goes down, sending Evans over the top rope to the floor. Leon then stops Lee, but Lee attempts a belly-to-back suplex and stands up. Lee then floats up and hits a sitout powerbomb.

AJ and Evans then team up and AJ hits a flurry of hits and a clothesline. AJ then hits a clothesline in the corner and an ushigoroshi. AJ then hits a belly-to-back faceplant. AJ goes for a springboard move and Evans throws a punch. AJ then avoids a baseball slider. Evans then missed an Asai Moonsault, but got back to his feet. Evans is then sent into the ringside barrier. AJ catches Leon and Evans kicks AJ. Lee is then sent to the ring post. Evans then hits a double jump cutter and Leon tags in and hits a Swanton 450, but Lee breaks the cover.

Evans then hits Lee with a roundhouse kick, but Lee avoids the second kick. Lee then stopped Evans’ rebound move by hitting him with a clothesline. Lee then hits a flip dive on Evans. Leon Ten goes for a Styles Crush, but AJ hits a back body drop. Leon then keeps and AJ rolls through and goes for the Styles Crush, but Leon avoids it. AJ then hits a forearm and goes for the Phenomenal Forearm. AJ then slips onto the ropes and Leon gets a near fall. Leon then goes to the top but AJ stands up. AJ then blocks a missile dropkick and hits a Styles Clash for the win.

The winners of the tag team match are WWE World Tag Team Champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles and LWO’s Dragon Lee!

After the match, AJ helps Leon to his feet and everyone salutes Cena.

Afterwards, tribute messages from Glenn Jacobs, R-Truth, The Miz, Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Alexa Bliss, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and Sami Zayn are shown thanking and blessing John Cena.

Tom Brady, Jimmy Kimmel, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Jalen Brunson, Lily Yachty, Vanessa Hudgens, and Jelly Roll all wish John Cena well. Metro Boomin and Medal of Honor recipient Edward Byers are then seen in the crowd.

Then we go back and Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon and they talk about building emotions. When Stephanie tried to say something, Miz interrupted them. And Miz says this tour would have been great if he didn’t act like he didn’t exist. Miz then says that he was the main character in John Cena’s career. The Miz then reminds everyone that he beat John Cena at WrestleMania. Miz then says he demands respect. Then R-Truth comes out.

Then Truth says he saw the footage. Then Truth says you did something inappropriate with Nick Aldis’ balls. Then the truth is you took someone’s chance and it was his. Miz looks at the paper and it says Joe Hendry. Joe then advances to the apron. Miz then asked him to turn off that stupid music. Then Miz says he’s had enough. Truth then says that Miz asked for it. Miz then throws a punch, but Joe blocks it. Joe then hits a fallaway slam and Meme turns on Truth. They then do a double-five knuckle shuffle on Miz. Joe then hits a standing ovation and Truth gets the count.

We then went back to Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon and they thanked John Cena. A video package is then shown, with many of today’s WWE stars paying tribute to John Cena.

Gunther then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night, followed by John Cena.

Single match: 17-time World Champion John Cena vs. “Ring General” Gunther

The match begins with both players locked up, resulting in a stalemate. Gunter then goes to the apron and exchanges words with the referee. Gunther then returns to the ring. They then lock up again and Gunther drives Cena to the mat. Gunter then hits a kick and a European uppercut. Then Gunter hits a chop. Gunter then hits a series of chops. Gunter then hits a slam on Cena. Gunter then delivers a strong Irish whip. Cena then blocks a chop and punches Gunther. Cena then hits a flying shoulder tackle, followed by a second hit. Cena then hits a Blue Thunder Bomb. Cena then sets up the Five Knuckle Shuffle and he hits it.

Cena then briefly gets Gunther to his feet, but Gunther counters with a German suplex. Gunther then hits a clothesline and Cena goes for a snapmare as Gunther goes for a sleeper. Cena then tightens the snapmare and applies the STF. Gunther then reaches for the ropes and Cena tries to adjust the hold, but Gunther kicks Cena away and hits a dropkick. Gunther then hits a powerbomb and asks the referee to ask Cena if he wants to quit. Then Gunther hits a clothesline. Coach Guenther then asked the referee to ask Cena one more question. Gunther then hit another clothesline and asked the referee to question Cena again.

GUNTHER then hits another clothesline and follows up with another clothesline. Gunther hits another clothesline but Cena doesn’t let up. Cena then ducks a clothesline and Cena hits a flying shoulder tackle for two. Gunther also hits a Blue Thunder Bomb. Cena then hit the 5 Knuckle Shuffle and Attitude Adjustment. Cena then gets a near fall. Cena then gets Gunther to his feet again, but Gunther escapes and chops Cena on the back of the neck. Gunther then closes it out with a sleeper. Cena then finishes with a sleeper of his own. Cena then adds a body scissors. Gunter then puts his foot on the ropes and releases the hold. Both men then fall to the floor and Gunther hits a chop and backdrop driver to the apron. Gunther then sends Cena into the ring steps.

Gunther then pulls the ring step next to the announce desk. Gunther then powerbombs him from the stairs through the desk. Cena then gets Gunther to his feet and hits an Attitude Adjustment through the table. Cena then rolls Gunther into the ring. Cena then gets a near fall. Cena then goes up top and goes for the Rocker Dropper, but he hits it. Cena then gets a near fall. Cena then goes for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Gunter then hits a German suplex off the boot. Gunter then hits a powerbomb for a near fall. Gunther then goes up top and goes for a frog splash, but Cena hits an uppercut. Cena then performed a Super Attitude Adjustment, resulting in a near fall.

Cena then throws a punch. Then Gunter hits a chop. More kicks by Cena and chops by Gunther. The two men continue going back and forth. Cena then goes for the Attitude Adjustment, but Gunther escapes and hits a powerbomb. Cena then hits a frog splash for a nearfall. Gunther asks Cena to wake up. Cena then fell to the mat as Gunther finished with a sleeper. After that, Senna receives a second wind and tries to escape from the hold, but Gunther sets up a sleeper again. Gunther then adds a body scissors, but Cena stands up.

After that, Cena tries to escape, but Gunther sets up a sleeper again. Furthermore, Gunther gets on Cena’s back and increases the pressure. Cena then backed Gunther into the turnbuckle and he escaped through the hold. Gunter then turns back into a sleeper. He then takes Cena down to the mat again. Cena then stands up and Gunter gets on Cena’s back again. Cena then drives Gunther into the corner. After that, Cena makes a posture adjustment and almost falls. Gunter then goes back to sleeper and adds a body scissors. Then the arm drops twice. The referee then raises his arm, presumably for the last time, but Cena doesn’t drop it. Gunther then hits a series of elbows to the collarbone. Gunther then goes back to sleeper and Cena taps out.

The winner of the single match is “Ring General” GUNTHER!

After the game, production staff cut various shots of shocked and disappointed fans, some of whom were crying. Cole says professional wrestling has destroyed sports entertainment. Barrett then said that GUNTHER has just become the standard bearer in the industry. Cole then said he and the fans were shocked to see Cena tap out. Cole then says it was Goldberg and now it was Cena. Cole then says that Gunther is a career killer and Gunther leaves the ring.

Cena looks around as the crowd expresses anger at the result of the match. Cena then kneels in the center of the ring and kisses Matt. Then, Shina smiles a little. Cena then bows to the crowd. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon then come down to the ring along with Cody Rhodes, The Undertaker, CM Punk, Bruce Pritchard, Shawn Michaels and more. Cody and Punk then enter the ring. The rest of the roster and ringside dignitaries then move to the ringside area. Punk and Cody give the title belt to Cena. Cena then retains the title belt. Cena tries to give the belts back but they refuse. Cena then shows off the belt to all sides of the arena. He then returns the title belts to them. Triple H and Cena then shook hands and hugged. Then we see a video package of John Cena.

Cena then bows and salutes again on all four sides of the ring. Cena then follows tradition and takes off his shoes along with his wrists and armbands in the center of the ring. Cena then goes back one last time. Cena bows once more and salutes one last time as the show draws to a close.
