Inside Scoop: Sting’s Son’s AEW Match Sparks Exciting Behind-the-Scenes Reactions

2 Min Read

Steve Borden Jr., son of WWE Hall of Famer and former AEW World Tag Team Champion Sting, recently made his debut in a dark match for AEW just before last week’s Dynamite: Winter is Coming event. Reports from Fightful Select indicate that AEW backstage personnel were highly impressed with Bowden, particularly noting his strong physique. One insider even suggested that Bowden is likely to sign with AEW imminently, if he hasn’t already. AEW President Tony Khan praised Bowden, calling him “excellent” and highlighting his exciting performance. Another AEW staff member complimented Bowden’s physical appearance, joking they would trade years of NFL victories for his build.

Bowden previously played football at the University of Kentucky and stepped into wrestling with his debut at an Awesome Championship Wrestling event in October. He trains alongside Darby Allin and faced off against Nightmare Factory graduate Kiran Gray, also a trainee of Allin, winning both matches. Before his dark match, Bowden appeared with his father during Sting’s final AEW match alongside Allin against the Young Bucks at AEW Revolution, with both sons dressed to honor different eras of their father’s career.

Fan Take: This news is exciting for AEW fans because it signals the potential rise of a new second-generation star who carries the legacy of Sting. Bowden’s athletic background and strong start in wrestling could bring fresh energy and compelling storylines to AEW, enhancing the sport’s future.
