MJF, who recently made his comeback to AEW, addressed John Cena following the WWE legend’s retirement from in-ring competition. After being sidelined since September, MJF returned on this week’s AEW Dynamite by cashing in his Casino Gauntlet contract, earning a spot in the World Championship match set for the upcoming World’s End pay-per-view.

On the WWE side, John Cena concluded his wrestling career after a loss to Gunther on the December 13th episode of Saturday Night Main Event. In response to Cena’s final bout, the wrestling community honored the multi-time world champion, with MJF expressing his respect as well. MJF shared a brief message on Twitter, reposting an interview clip where he referred to Cena as a “great human being,” alongside the words, “I’m late to the party. Thank you, Shina.”

Previously, Cena spoke about meeting MJF at the premiere of his film Iron Claw, complimenting the AEW star and expressing his wish that MJF would “play for the right team one day.” AEW’s World’s End event, scheduled for December 27th, will feature Samoa Joe defending the World Championship against Adam Page, Swerve Strickland, and MJF.

Shortly after his return, MJF hinted at newfound confidence in a tweet, following a previous message from September where he said, “Not anymore, man.”
