Backstage Buzz: WWE NXT Superstars Spotted at Main Roster Tapings

2 Min Read

As the Christmas season nears, WWE is set to hold consecutive tapings of “WWE Raw” and “WWE SmackDown” tonight in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Reports indicate that WWE NXT talent will be present backstage during these events.

Specifically, former NXT Champion Trick Williams is confirmed to be at the Van Andel Arena for the dual taping session. It remains unclear if Williams will appear on television, participate in a dark match, or simply be present backstage. However, sources suggest that a main roster call-up for Williams is likely imminent.

Williams’ most recent televised bout was against Miles Bourne during the NXT Iron Survivor Challenge qualifiers, where Bourne emerged victorious. Despite this, Williams continues to perform at NXT house shows, including a recent triple-event tour along the East Coast. Earlier this month, he was backstage for a SmackDown taping but did not make an on-screen appearance.

These tapings in Grand Rapids will be featured in the December 22 and December 26 episodes of Raw and SmackDown, respectively. Notably, the December 19 SmackDown episode was recorded earlier in Hershey, Pennsylvania, alongside a live Raw broadcast. Additionally, Williams’ former teammate Carmelo Hayes is set to appear on SmackDown tonight, teaming with United States Champion Ilya Dragunov against Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano.

Fan Take: This development is exciting for WWE fans as it signals Trick Williams’ potential transition to the main roster, bringing fresh talent and new storylines. His arrival could inject fresh energy into WWE programming and open opportunities for intriguing rivalries and memorable matches.
