R Reveals WWE Wrestling Retirement Plans: “I’m Just Up Next”

John Cena, at 48, recently participated in the final match of his wrestling career, retiring his iconic sneakers and armband. Looking ahead to 2026, AJ Styles is set to continue the legacy at 49, having made a significant impact in TNA, ROH, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and WWE. On “Saturday Night’s Main Event Recap,” Ron “R-Truth” Killings hinted that his own retirement might be approaching soon.

“I’ll be next in line,” Truth shared. “I told CM and the others that those of us waiting are all jokers. I even say I stole this from The Rock. I let my body and pain tell me when it’s time to step away. For now, I’m feeling good and haven’t had many injuries because I apply what I learned from Booker T years ago. I understand wrestling psychology well and want to stay in the business long-term. I aim to perform in ways I know I can pull off successfully while still entertaining with flair and style that the fans love. As the younger wrestlers develop, the sport will naturally evolve and cycle through changes.”

Truth mentioned that the WWE contract he signed in June might be the last one of his wrestling career. Aside from a brief period earlier this year when WWE let his contract expire, Truth has been with WWE since 2008, and previously appeared as K-Kwik from 1999 to 2001.

“Everyone has their time. Everyone eventually needs to get off the ride,” he added.

Fan Take: This news is significant for WWE fans because it marks the nearing end of an era for a beloved and long-standing performer like R-Truth. His potential retirement underscores the evolution of WWE and signals an opportunity for new talent to rise and shape the future of professional wrestling.
