A few months ago, Mark Briscoe clinched the TNT Championship in AEW with the backing of his faction, The Conglomeration. Despite being a group of varied wrestlers, Briscoe shared on AEW Unlimited how this faction came to be. It began as a six-man tag team featuring Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, and Orange Cassidy during an All-Star trios match in AEW. Briscoe recounted that Orange Cassidy and AEW’s Nyla Rose were present, leading to the creation of a promo where he described their diverse alliance as a “conglomerate.” During the first take, a line about “conglomerate” was dropped unintentionally, but AEW backstage official Will Washington suggested keeping it. On a final take, Briscoe added the word “Complex,” and thus the faction’s name was born. Washington later shared that Briscoe usually improvises promos without a script. Shortly after, in a creative meeting with AEW’s Tony Khan, the group was officially named The Conglomeration, which has since grown into one of the most beloved stables on AEW TV.
Fan Take: This backstory offers AEW fans a glimpse into the creative spontaneity that shapes their favorite wrestling storylines, highlighting how authentic moments can evolve into iconic factions. The Conglomeration’s rise reflects AEW’s emphasis on innovative storytelling, which continues to elevate the sport by blending diverse wrestling talents into compelling narratives.
