WWE is kicking off 2026 with a bang. Next week’s live episode of SmackDown, airing January 2, marks the show’s return to a full three-hour format. WWE has already revealed three major matches, giving fans an exciting glimpse of what to expect as the new year begins.

The highlight is a huge eight-woman tag team match featuring Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley, and IYO SKY taking on Nia Jax, Rush Legend, Asuka, and Kairi Sane. Another key bout will see Jade Cargill face Michin, with the stakes high—Michin could secure a future title shot if victorious. Additionally, Damian Priest will go head-to-head with Aleister Black in a featured match.

These announcements come after the final 2025 episode of SmackDown was pre-recorded on December 19. Starting January 2, the Blue Brand will be back with live broadcasts every Friday, now extended to a full three hours.

WWE is clearly going all out to set the tone for 2026, and if this is the launchpad, the year ahead promises intense action.
