Since capturing the AEW Women’s World Championship at All Out, Kris Statlander’s confidence has soared to new heights. During the AEW World’s End post-show media scrum, Statlander shared how she reached this breakthrough moment.
“One major change is that my underdog story is behind me,” she said. “I’m no longer seen as an underdog. People used to think, ‘Maybe her time will come someday,’ but now I’m proving this is my moment. I’m the champion, and I fully deserve to feel confident.”
Statlander also explained her mindset heading into her match with former champion Jamie Hayter: “Jamie has been at the top before and knows what it’s like to be champion. I feel like I’m a bit less aggressive, but I was trying to provoke her to ignite that champion spirit within her, because I want to compete with everyone at that high level. I’m pushing to bring out that fire in her and others who are eager for a title shot.”
In her fourth successful defense, Statlander retained her AEW Women’s Championship against Hayter at World’s End by delivering The Big Bang Theory finishing move. Last month, she also defended her title successfully against Mina Shirakawa, Toni Storm, and Mercedes Mone, two of whom rank at the top of the PWI Women’s 250 list for 2025. Statlander originally won the championship by surprising Storm with a crucifix pin at All Out.
