MJF, the reigning AEW World Champion, has announced via social media that he will be defending his title in another wrestling promotion later this month. He claimed the championship for the second time on December 27th at AEW World End by winning a four-way match against Samoa Joe, Hangman Adam Page, and Swerve Strickland.
Following his victory, MJF already faces numerous challengers on AEW Dynamite, including Swerve Strickland, Hangman Page, and Kenny Omega. Additionally, he is set to defend his championship against Dynamite Diamond Ring winner Bandido. Shortly after that match, on January 14th at AEW Dynamite Maximum Carnage, MJF will defend the title once more.
In a video announcement on Twitter, MJF challenged Alec Price for the AEW World Championship at Limitless Wrestling’s Limitless Rumble event scheduled for January 16th. He clarified that the match will only be a title defense if he remains the champion by that date. MJF has a history with Limitless Wrestling, having competed there from 2017 to 2019 and holding the Limitless World Title for 181 days before his last match in the promotion in September 2019.
Fan Take: This news is exciting for AEW fans as it showcases MJF taking the AEW World Championship beyond the promotion, potentially expanding AEW’s influence and reach within the wrestling world. It also adds intrigue and fresh storylines, bridging different wrestling promotions and increasing the stakes for MJF’s reign as champion.
