WWE NXT New Year’s Evil Results (1/6/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens with an intro teaser for the New Year’s Evil-themed episode.
Vic Joseph and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T then check in from the Crow’s Nest balcony, where Vic gets the crowd going. We then see appearances by Fatal Influence, Kendall Gray, Oba Femi, and Leon Slater.
Thea Hale was making her way down to the ring for the first match of the night when she was attacked from behind by Blake Monroe. Blake then sends Hale into the ring steps and hits Thea with a chair. Thea is then sent through the barrier at ringside. The authorities have to hold Blake back while they check on Thea. Vic and Booker wonder if they will be able to compete in the advertised match.
Ricky Saints then makes his way down to the ring, past medical personnel responding to the situation with Blake Monroe and Thea Hale. Ricky started off by saying he thought the North American title match was going to be put on hold, so he wanted to give everyone a special gift. Ricky then says 2026 begins. Ricky said you had some feelings for him but wanted to be honest. Ricky then says that NXT really needed him last year and that NXT still needs him. Rickey then says that’s why Jevon Evans and Trick Williams chose free agency. Ricky then says that as long as he’s here, he can’t compete with anything he can’t compare to. Then Ricky said there was only room for one star and that was him. Ricky then says the sad truth about everyone in the locker room is that he’s not going anywhere. And Ricky says to all the athletes and independents, we’re going to send you back where you came from. Then Ricky says you may have talent, but you’re definitely not.
Then Ricky said he told you he was who he said he was. And Ricky says he will continue to prove it until 2026. And Ricky says it’s become abundantly clear whether it’s a natural star or a star they’re trying to make. Ricky then says that even though he was right for 20 years, he can’t be wrong now. Ricky mentions Leon Slater and Oba Femi. Ricky then says he doesn’t care either way. Ricky told Leon that if you win, I’ll take care of you in due course. Then Ricky said, Oba, we are one and that’s not right in his spirit. And Ricky says he’ll finish what he started last year. Ricky then said that no matter who wins, NXT and the NXT Championship will be in his hands. Then Ricky says that’s for sure. Next, Ricky poses.
We then head to the back where Eva asks Robert Stone to see if things will work out tonight. Eva then sends him to find Blake. Eva then tells someone about Izzie and Tatum going on and tells them to run the video package.
We then meet Eva and she mentions what Blake did. Eva then says that she tried to help Blake last week. Then Blake says that if he gets the charm, he will go to hell. Blake then demands the title back. Eva then says the match won’t reach her and Blake is banned from the building.
Tatum Paxley then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night, followed by The Culling.
Single match: Tatum Paxley vs. The Culling’s Izzie Dame
The match starts with Izzy hitting the Snake Eye and she sends Tatum into the turnbuckle. Tatum hits a flurry of chops and punches. Izzy then hits a backheel kick. Izzy then hits a beer and a running shoulder into the corner. Izzy then sends Tatum into the turnbuckle and Izzy removes his shoulder. Tatum then tightens the Boston Crab against the ropes. Tatum then hits a double sledge. Izzy then begs for mercy, but Tatum slaps her and elbows her in the back. Tatum then drives his knee into the mat and follows up with an enzuigiri. Tatum then goes to the apron and hits a flip leg drop to the back of the neck. Tatum is then blocked by Izzy, who pulls Tatum into the ropes and follows with a forearm that sends Tatum to the floor.
Izzy then sends Tatum into the announce desk and onto the apron. Izzy then hits a chokeslam on the apron. Izzy then nearly falls. Izzi then hits an Irish whip and an elbow into the corner. Izzy then hits an Irish whip and an elbow into the corner. Izzy then hits a back elbow and takes a corner kick. Izzy then tightens the bow and arrow around the ring post. Izzy then goes to the turnbuckle and hits the Codebreaker for a nearfall. Izzy then locks him in a reverse chin lock.
Tatum then escapes and clips Izzy. Izzy then locks him in a reverse chin lock. Izzy then hits a waistlock takedown. Tatum then hits a series of back elbows and sends Izzy into the ropes. Both women then hit clotheslines at the same time, causing both women to fall. Tatum then lands some forearms and kicks. Izzy then hits a backbreaker. Izzy then threw Tatum over the top rope and she nearly fell. Izzy then tightens the Lion Tamer, but Tatum approaches the ropes and forces a break. Tatum then hits a backheel kick and Izzy misses a splash into the corner. Izzy then hits a back elbow.
Izzy then goes to the turnbuckle and Tatum hits an enzuigiri. Tatum then hits a thrust kick. Tatum then slaps Izzy and Tatum climbs into the turnbuckle. Tatum then hits a Spanish fly and both women go down. Both women then confront and Izzy slaps Tatum. Tatum then fires back with a slap. Both women then continue slapping and Tatum hits a jumping facebuster. Tatum then hits a few clotheslines and kicks. Tatum then hits a German suplex, but Izzy hits a roundhouse kick. Izzy then slams a forearm into the ropes. Izzy then hits a sitout bomb for a near fall.
Izzy then hits a clothesline and a reverse belly-to-back suplex for a near fall. Izzy then hit a spear and both women fell through the ropes to the floor. Izzy then sends Tatum into the ring steps. Both women then return to the ring. Tatum then hits a Liger Kick and goes up top. Tatum then hit a 450 splash, went for a cemetery drive and hit it for the win.

Next, Helio Lafleur talks about how he put French wrestling on the map and he’s ready to take flight. And he says he came to NXT to cut the sky.
We then see Kendall Gray and Jaycee Jayne walking their separate ways to the ring with their respective buddies.
Then we head to the backside where we can see Thea Hale with Jordyn Grace and Eva. Eva mentions that Jordyn will face Jade Cargill on SmackDown. She then tells Thea that she is going to postpone the title match and Blake leaves. Thea then said she wanted a match and wanted Blake back. And she said she wanted an open challenge. Jordyn then convinces Eva to allow Thea to take the open challenge.
Fatal Influence then follows as Kendall Gray and Len Sinclair go down to the ring for the next match of the night.
WWE NXT Women’s Championship Match: Fatal Influence Jaycee Jayne (c) vs. WWE EVOLVE Women’s Champion Kendall Gray
The match starts with both women locking up, then Gray hits an armdrag and transitions into an armbar. Jaycee then hits a headscissors and Gray escapes. Gray then hits a waistlock takedown and closes with a cross armbreaker, but Jaycee forces a break at the ropes. Jaycee then hits a kick and punch. Jaycee then hits an Irish whip, but Gray hits a back elbow, floats him up, and hits a dropkick through the groin. Jaycee then goes to the floor again and Gray goes up top and hits a moonsault on Jaycee, Fallon and Rainey. Gray then returns to the ring with a slingshot, but Jaycee falls to the floor. Jaycee then trips Gray, but Gray locks him in an armbar. Jaycee then drops Gray into the ringside barrier and hits a cannonball, but the barrier doesn’t break.
Both women then return to the ring and Jaycee hits a back senton for a near fall. Jaycee then hits an Irish whip and a running hip attack into the corner. Jaycee then hits a snapmare and a kick to the back. Jaycee then hits a backheel kick for a near fall. Jaycee then chokes Gray on the ropes and sends him into the turnbuckle. Jaycee then hits a back elbow for a near fall. Jaycee then works on the back. Gray then gets a rollup and gets a near fall. Gray then hits a sunset flip, but Jaycee rolls over and kicks Gray in the chest. Gray then struggles to his feet and Jaycee sends him into the turnbuckle. Jaycee then snaps the mare and hits her with an elbow to the back of the neck. Jaycee then locks in a reverse chin lock.
Jaycee then tightens her back jaw and leans into her clutch. Gray then stands up and Gray hits an elbow. Jaycee then hits a neckbreaker. Jaycee then hits a knee to the ribs for a near fall. Jaycee then receives a clavate. Gray then backs Jaycee into the corner, but Jaycee drives Gray into the turnbuckle. Gray then hits a kick and a crossbody for a nearfall. Jaycee then misses a boot and both women go for cross bodies and both women go down.
Gray throws a punch and Jaycee punches back. Both women then go back and forth. Jaycee then hits a series of kicks. Jaycee then grabs Gray by the throat, and Gray grabs Jaycee and hits him with a series of back elbows, followed by a German suplex. The strap comes off and Gray trips Jaycee and she hits a slingshot double stomp. Then Gray hesitates and hits a DDT from the corner, resulting in a near fall. Jaycee then sends Gray to the apron and Gray hits a kick. Gray then goes on top and Jaycee hits the ropes to straddle her. Jaycee then hits a hanging swinging neckbreaker for a near fall. Jaycee then punches Gray. Then, when Gray moved, Jaycee missed the cannonball in the corner. Gray then hits two German suplexes, but Jaycee hits a knee for a near fall.
Jaycee then goes up top but Gray hits a superplex. Jaycee then misses a knee and Gray gets a rollup for a near fall. Jaycee then rolls around for a near fall. Gray then locks in a cross armbreaker, but Fallon gets in the ring and allows Laney to drag Gray to the floor. And Gray stops leading. Fallon and Wren then fight on the apron and Jaycee knocks Wren off the apron. Gray then hits a cross armbreaker. Jaycee then nearly falls. Fallon then grabbed Jaycee to stop Gray’s Flatliner, giving Jaycee the victory.

We then headed to the back where Eva said Ethan Page was the last person she wanted to talk to. Ethan says he wants to talk about his title reign and how he defeated Moose. Then Ethan said he was a record setter. Ethan says he will win 12 title matches in 2025, and Eva asks about the other 12 winners. Ethan then brings up the live event he had to defend. Ethan then says he’s going to get in the ring. Eva then asks if there are any pitfalls. Later, Ethan calls the boys over and Jackson Drake, Ricky Smokes, and Brad Baylor appear.
Thea Hale then goes down to the ring and cuts a promo. Thea says she knows her win was controversial. Thea then said that she was shocked that Blake Monroe attacked her because she wanted this match. Thea then says she promised the fans a title match. Thea then says that she needs to prove that she is worthy of this title.
WWE NXT Women’s North American Championship Open Challenge Match: Thea Hale (c) vs. The Culling’s Izzy Dame
The match begins with Tatum stopping people with a chainsaw, but Izzy attacks Thea from behind. Izzy then kicks Thea and sends her into the turnbuckle. Izzy then hits him in the shoulder. Izzy then scored a running TKO resulting in a near fall. Then Thea does a back elbow and a kick. Izzy then hits a punch and forearm. Izzy then hits a slam. Izzy then shoulders Thea, but Thea hits a sunset flip, which Izzy blocks. Thea then gets a victory roll with a nearfall. Izzy then hits the Oklahoma Stampede for a nearfall. Izzy then kicks Thea and Irish slams Thea into the corner. Izzy then hits him in the shoulder. Izzy then stands on Thea’s back. Izzy then hits an Irish whip and an elbow into the corner. Izzy then kicks Thea into the corner. Izzy then goes to the turnbuckle for the Codebreaker, but she gets a near fall. Izzy then strangles Thea with the ropes. Izzy then hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.
Izzy then slams her knee into the ropes. Izzy then hit a filly snap and she locked on a hind chin lock. Thea then stands up and Izzy kicks her. Izzy then treats her injured ribs and kicks Thea. Izzy then goes for a slam, but Thea counters with a DDT. Thea then hits a backheel kick and more kicks. Izzy then hits a forearm. Thea then hits a running double sled. Izzy then hits an Irish whip, and Thea floats up and rolls up for a near fall. Izzy then hits a forearm. Izzi then hits a slam but misses the elbow drop. Thea then gets a barrel roll and sets up for the Warrior Coffin Drop, but Izzy gets a knee up. Izzy then hits a boot for a near fall.
Izzy then goes for a bearhug, but Thea goes for a kimura. Izzy then sends Thea into the turnbuckles. Izzy then misses an elbow in the corner and Thea hits an Exploder. Izzy then rolls to the floor and Thea hits a suicide dive, but Izzy catches Thea and chokes her into the announce desk. The referee then starts counting, but Izzy remembers that a countout does not award the title. Izzy then sends Thea back into the ring and she goes to the turnbuckle. Thea then stops Izzy. Thea throws a flurry of punches and targets Kimura against the turnbuckle. Izzy then hit a sitout powerbomb off the turnbuckle for the win.
The Culling’s Izzy Dame is the winner of the Open Challenge Match and becomes the new WWE NXT Women’s North American Champion!
We then see the Vanity Project show up to attack Laura Vice and Hank and Tank show up. After that, he decided to leave Vanity Project. Then Laura says she almost knocked them out. Next, we will talk about the North American title match. Laura then reminds Izzy that she recently won, but has to deal with Kehlani Jordan. Then Kehlani Jordan shows up and is throwing shoes. Then people appear who try to separate them.
Joe Hendry then enters Eva’s office. He says he’s looking for a fight. And he says he’s tired of the dark state ruining his concerts. He also wants to have Dion Lennox in a no-DQ match next week. Eva then says that she understands his determination, but if it becomes a no-DQ match, it will be a handicap match. Joe then says that if he can find someone to ensure a one-on-one match, he’ll join in. Eva then says that if he can do that, she will give him a match.
WWE NXT North American Champion Ethan Page then steps down to the ring. Page grabbed the mic and started talking about how fitting it is to celebrate the new year in honor of the most dominant superstar of all time. Ethan then said he was a big game hunter because he had bagged a moose last week. Ethan then says he’s sending him back to TNA empty-handed to prove he’s the greatest North American alive. Ethan then says that soon Oba Femi will be defending the title against Leon Slater. Ethan then says they’re not the main event because he’s the main event. Ethan then says that the North American Championship is the most prestigious title in all of WWE. Ethan then says that Oba Femi holds that title and that it’s strange that Oba is their world champion and only defends the title in some parts of North America. Ethan then stated that he has defended against multiple adversaries for multiple companies in multiple countries. Then Ethan says he’s an international icon.
Then Jasper Troy interjects. Jasper then says he acts like Ethan is the only champion that matters. Jasper then says he will prove that he is the best big man in NXT and that he is a monster in NXT. Ethan then tells Jasper that he doesn’t need to get in the ring. Jasper then says that he ran through LFG and won the speed title. And he says this won’t be the last title he holds until 2026. And then Josh Briggs comes out and says there’s no one on his level. And he said you’re not the best big man in NXT. Josh then tells Ethan to stop wasting his time with losers like Miles Bourne. And he says Ethan is as paranoid as a mouth-breather in a crowd.
Channing Lorenzo shows up and says he doesn’t want to interrupt things, but tells Ethan that he has unfinished business. And he says he’s the only one in NXT to hold the TNA gold medal, given everything that happened last year. And he said, you want to call yourself an international icon. Channing then says he’s an international champion, so he can’t be more international. And Channing said that with all his wins in TNA and NXT, the wins couldn’t be bigger.
Shiloh Hill then intervenes and says she’s glad to see Channing in a better mood this time. And he said maybe I had ruined his Christmas. And he said that after that victory, your father-in-law and Eva had a conversation. He then said that it looks like your title reign won’t last long as you will be meeting for the title next week. Then Tavion Heights came out and said this was his type of party. He then said he liked everything that was said but he was going to fix the problem. He then told Jasper that he would fly to Air Heights next week and become the new NXT Speed Champion. Ethan then says he can’t believe Jasper is letting Heights talk like this. Heights then missed Page and hit Troy. Then everyone starts fighting and sending people to the floor. Shiloh then stops Grace from slapping him and they dance. Grace and Channing are then sent to the floor.
Then we head to the back and Joe Hendry is talking to OTM. Joe asks Bronco Nima and Lucien Price for help, but they have nothing to worry about. And they said they only cared about the title. Joe then tells them that getting involved with Dark State will get them closer to the tag titles. And they say they will see him next week.
Fatal Influence then appears and they encounter Sol Ruca and ZARIA. They talk about how Sol doesn’t have a title. Then Sol says he’s coming for Jaycee’s title.
We then see Ethan Page walking behind him and Miles Bourne talking to Tate Wilder. Ethan wants to know where Miles was, and Miles says he had nothing to do with the situation. Ethan told Tate to learn from him during his stay at EVOLVE. And Miles wasn’t in that segment, he says, because it was for champions and challengers. Tate tells Miles not to worry about it, but Miles says it’s too late.
It was then announced that next week, Dion Lennox will face Joe Hendry in a no-disqualification match, Taveion Heights will face Jasper Troy for the Speed Championship, Laura Bice will face Kehlani Jordan, and Shiloh Hill will face Channing Lorenzo for the TNA International Championship.
TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater then makes his way down to the ring for the night’s main event, and TNA President Carlos Silva can be seen in the crowd. Oba Femi then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night.

The match begins with a lockup between the two, with Oba pushing Leon into the corner and pushing Leon across the ring. They then lock up again and Leon applies a waistlock, but Oba throws him to the mat. Ohba then lands a wristlock. Oba then takes Leon back to the mat. Ohba then throws a punch, then squeezes his arm and hits him on the shoulder. Ohba then hits an elbow to the back of the neck. Ohba then punches the middle. Leon then hits a series of chops, but Oba chops Leon and Leon goes down. Then Oba locks him in with a reverse chinlock. After that, Oba throws a series of punches, and Leon escapes from the slam. Leon then hits a backheel kick and attempts a springboard, but Oba catches him and hits a backbreaker. Oba then sends Leon over the turnbuckles and to the floor.
Oba then sends Leon to the apron. Ohba then hits a backdrop driver on the apron. Leon then hits a few punches and kicks. Oba then hits an Irish whip but gets hit by a boot. Ohba then blocks a kick and hits a clothesline. Oba then hits a uranage backbreaker and stretches Leon’s knee. Leon then throws a flurry of punches and Oba throws Leon into the turnbuckle. Then Oba kicks Leon in the back. Oba then throws a flurry of punches and locks him in a reverse chinlock. Leon then escaped a German suplex and got back to his feet. Leon then hits a dropkick. Leon then hits a head scissors and knocks Ohba out of the ring. Leon then goes to the apron and Ohba chops Leon.
Oba then hits a knee, Leon moves and Oba’s knee hits the ring post. Leon then kicks Oba’s leg. Oba then sends Leon to the apron and Leon sends Oba to the ring steps. Leon then goes up top and hits a crossbody for a nearfall. Leon then kicks the back of Oba’s leg. Ohba then hits a clothesline and hits a chokeslam. After that, Oba almost falls.
Ohba then goes for a running uppercut, but he hits it. Then Ohba hits the second one. Then, on the third try, Ohba’s leg fell out. Leon then hits a flying leg lariat. Leon then goes for a slam and hits it. Leon then almost falls. Oba then rolls onto the apron and Leon goes for a springboard clothesline. Oba then catches Leon and Leon kicks Oba to the floor. Leon then hits a flip dive onto Ohba over the ring post. Leon then takes Oba back into the ring and Leon goes to the top with a Swanton 450, but Oba ends up on his knees. Oba then gets a nearfall, but Leon gets a cross for a nearfall. Leon then punched and kicked, and Ohba hit a powerbomb for the win.

After the match, the camera focuses on Oba Femi celebrating his entrance in the ring. NXT General Manager Eva then gave a lecture to the wrestlers in the background, stating that NXT needs to fill spots now that many roster members are being called up. Robert Stone then storms the room and tells Eva to find out what Oba did. Then, back in the ring, Oba was gone and the NXT Championship was placed in the center of the ring as the show neared its end.
