Tommaso Ciampa has been officially removed from WWE’s active roster after announcing his departure from the company last week. Following widespread speculation about his contract status, Ciampa took to social media on January 21 to reveal he would be leaving WWE once his current contract expires.

His exit was confirmed when WWE updated its roster page, moving Ciampa’s profile from the “Current Superstars” section to the “Alumni” category. Ciampa’s final televised WWE appearance occurred on the December 19 episode of SmackDown, which was filmed on December 15, where he teamed with his former DIY partner Johnny Gargano to face Ilya Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes. The week before, Ciampa challenged Dragunov for the U.S. Championship but came up short.

Ciampa joined WWE in 2016 alongside Gargano and achieved notable success, including winning the NXT Tag Team Championship once, the NXT Championship twice, and later securing the WWE Tag Team Championship again with Gargano. In response to Ciampa’s departure, Gargano was among the many who expressed their respect and admiration for him.

Since leaving WWE, Ciampa has launched a new collection of Pro Wrestling T-shirts available online. Fans can stay tuned for updates regarding his next steps outside the WWE ring, as the wrestling world wishes him the best moving forward.

Fan Take: Ciampa’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter for WWE, especially for NXT enthusiasts who followed his memorable journey. His exit reminds fans of the ever-changing landscape in wrestling and sparks curiosity about how both WWE and Ciampa will evolve in the coming years.
