MJF to Clash in Explosive Eliminator Match for Grand Slam Title on February 4th AEW Dynamite

The path to AEW Grand Slam Australia has encountered some twists and turns.

On Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, it was revealed that AEW World Champion MJF will face Brody King in a high-stakes eliminator bout scheduled for next week in Las Vegas. Should King defeat the champion, he will secure a shot at the world title during AEW’s second-ever Grand Slam event, set to take place next month in Sydney, Australia.

This opportunity arose following MJF’s recent victory over Bandido earlier in the month. Last week on Dynamite, Brody King challenged MJF directly, asserting his claim for a title opportunity. Although MJF initially dismissed the challenge, King returned on Wednesday to announce that he had already been in discussions with Tony Khan to make the match official.

This upcoming bout marks the first singles match between MJF and Brody King in AEW, even though the two have faced off in multi-person matches before—including a four-way contest on the 300th episode of Dynamite last July. Their only previous one-on-one encounter occurred in MLW back in 2018.

Additionally, next week’s events will see The Young Bucks making their return to the ring, though their opponents have yet to be announced.

Next week’s Dynamite could have significant implications for the Grand Slam main event and the Australian title picture. Will Brody King earn his ticket to Sydney, or will MJF shut the door on another contender?
