AEW Chairman Tony Khan has confirmed that he secured the rights to use the iconic entrance music of wrestling legend Sting for his son Stephen Borden’s matches. Since December, Stephen has been appearing in several dark matches between AEW and ROH, with fans recently noticing him entering to Sting’s classic WCW theme, “Turbo Charged.” On the Battleground Podcast, Khan explained that he personally arranged a contract to license the song for a limited number of plays and suggested it would be used for Borden’s official AEW television debut.

Khan shared, “It was my idea to use that song. I had a contract for it in my music library with a set number of uses. I haven’t aired it yet, but I love licensing great music. ‘Turbo Charged’ has always been one of my favorite tracks growing up, and I thought it would be perfect for Stephen.” He also emphasized that helping Stephen develop as a performer remains a key focus for AEW.

Fan Take: This move is a great nod to wrestling history and shows AEW’s commitment to building legacy stars with authentic connections. Using Sting’s iconic theme for Stephen Borden could create a powerful storyline that resonates with fans old and new, potentially elevating AEW’s storytelling and honoring the sport’s rich past.
