I’ve never really enjoyed eliminator matches on AEW programs, and tonight’s show brought that dislike back to the surface, despite “Dynamite” being a solid overall episode. Both Brody King and Mega Badd have certainly earned their shot at the titles, but it’s unclear if the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship truly needs an eliminator match, especially at this stage.
The primary focus of the show right now is clearly the AEW Men’s Title, which I have no issues with. The scene is packed with top talents like Swerve Strickland, Kenny Omega, Andrade El Idolo, “Hangman” Adam Page, and The King, who won tonight’s eliminator match fairly quickly. With so many contenders eager to challenge MJF, eliminator matches make more sense here. The best wrestler can prove their worth by beating the champion and hopefully winning the title. However, this kind of match should be reserved solely for the main title to prevent the show from becoming confusing.
I really appreciate the AEW women’s roster and believe they deserve more spotlight, but the eliminator match doesn’t seem to add much for the tag team belts. Megan Bain and Penelope Ford should have targeted Babes of Wrath, Willow Nightingale, and Harley Cameron after their win against Timeless Love Bomb. There was no need to have them defeat Cameron and Nightingale only to face and either beat or lose to them again in a title match, especially after proving themselves in a non-title bout.
Their upcoming title match could have been well set up through backstage segments, promos, and beatdowns alone. It would have been better for Mega Badd to gain momentum by winning more tag or singles matches before the Grand Slam: Australia event. Although it’s unlikely this title match will be part of the Grand Slam card, which is filling up quickly, it would have been nice to see the championships defended on a major show in Cameron’s home country.
Overall, eliminator matches feel repetitive and redundant. AEW should consider limiting this type of match to just one major title at a time to keep things clearer.

Fan Take: This discussion matters to AEW fans because it highlights how match structures can impact storytelling clarity and excitement. Streamlining eliminator matches to focus only on major titles could help preserve the prestige of title scenes and maintain viewer engagement without causing confusion.
