Cali Armstrong appears to be considering a step back to regroup following a challenging stretch in WWE Evolve.
Armstrong made history in April 2025 by triumphing in a four-way match against Wendy Chu, Kendall Gray, and Kylie Rae to become the inaugural WWE Evolve Women’s Champion. Her title reign lasted 140 days before ending in September, when Kendall Gray captured the championship.
Since losing the belt, Armstrong has faced a difficult run, dropping five consecutive matches—including defeats by PJ Versa, Kendall Gray twice (once in a three-way including Versa), and most recently by Carmen Petrovic.
In this week’s episode of Evolution, Armstrong openly confronted her struggles and reflected on what lies ahead. She expressed how the losing streak has affected her more deeply than expected:
“I’m disappointed in myself. I’m not used to losing so much. I’m too strong, Armstrong. I’m a difference maker.”
She also revisited the mindset that originally propelled her to success:
“I’ve got to get that dog back in me. That dog that got me to the University of Southern California. That dog that made me run circles around all these chicks on my way to becoming Evolve Women’s Champion.”
Armstrong ended by suggesting she might take some time away from in-ring competition to reconnect with her roots:
“Maybe I need to move back home a little bit until I remember who I am and where I came from.”
It’s unclear whether this signals a brief hiatus, a character overhaul, or something more significant, but it’s evident that Armstrong is dissatisfied with her performance since dropping the title.

Fan Take: This development is compelling for WWE fans because it highlights the resilience and personal struggles behind the characters they admire. Armstrong’s potential reset could inject fresh energy into the women’s division, possibly inspiring new storylines and elevating the competition across the board.
