6 Insights: What Frustrated Us and What Sparked Joy

Certainly! Here’s a rewritten version of the content:

I didn’t expect to see an Oba Femi vs. Kit Wilson match on my 2026 bingo card, but there it was. I found this matchup disappointing for many reasons. I was particularly frustrated with “The Ruler” appearing on “WWE Raw” and sidelining the War Raiders, but this encounter on SmackDown was even worse.

Wilson, who has been gaining traction lately thanks to his catchy new theme song, missed out on the Royal Rumble, which I felt was a missed opportunity. However, it made a degree of sense for him to take the stage tonight to call out the “toxic masculinity” present in the ring. Yet, instead of going head-to-head with his recent rival, Matt Cardona, it was Femi who entered the ring.

To my dismay, this turned into an actual match. It seems strange that Femi scored his first main roster win against Wilson rather than a more established opponent. It’s unlikely that Wilson and Femi will engage in a feud, which WWE often tends to do, but thankfully Wilson had a backstage match with Cardona later on, keeping Femi out of a mid-card rivalry.

While Femi might be avoiding a conflict for now, I’m not a fan of the path WWE is charting for him. This feels like a series of disjointed matches that won’t benefit either Femi or his opponents. If the rumors about Brock Lesnar not being confirmed to return for WrestleMania are accurate, Femi may continue on this aimless trajectory for a while.

It’s also peculiar that Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce are determining Femi’s placement on the main roster. He did manage to best the War Raiders, but his official win on SmackDown wasn’t anything impressive for a former NXT Champion who was so dominant that he had to relinquish the title upon moving up. This match should have been a highlight of an otherwise lackluster show, but it fell flat.

Fan Take: This news is significant for wrestling fans as it reflects WWE’s struggle to create compelling storylines for emerging talent like Femi and Wilson. Poor match placements and weak rivalries can hinder the development of future stars, making it crucial for fans to advocate for better story arcs that elevate the sport overall.
