Since April 2025, Josh Alexander has been a part of AEW, aligning himself with the Don Callis faction. However, prior to this, he was closely connected to TNA. During an appearance on “Busted Open Radio,” Alexander opened up about the toughest aspect of switching wrestling promotions.
“The hardest part wasn’t even the in-ring wrestling,” Alexander explained. “When I left TNA, I lost a lot of great friends. I hadn’t planned on joining a new promotion, but I did know some people here at AEW and was friendly with many. Still, early on, I felt very isolated—I didn’t have that sense of camaraderie like, ‘Hey, Steve, Jake, want to grab dinner?’”
Alexander recalled that he traveled solo during the initial phase of his AEW tenure, eventually being joined by former TNA star Jake Something, now known as Jake Doyle. Tragically, after this interview, Doyle suffered an injury that sidelined him for several months.
Since his departure from TNA and joining forces with Callis and his allies, Alexander has become a regular on AEW programming. He even experienced a “dream match” against Kenny Omega just last month. Most recently, on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, Alexander teamed up with Konosuke Takeshita and El Cron to secure a victory over the Death Riders.
One of the highlights of Alexander’s move to AEW has been getting the chance to compete at Scotiabank Arena, near his hometown and the home court of the Toronto Raptors.
