Bryan Danielson summed it up perfectly—this match was outstanding.
Although Danielson put it more elegantly, his reaction of “This is cool” accurately captures the excitement of the thrilling showdown between the Young Bucks, the Rascals, and the recently returned Private Party. I was just as impressed as he was. On Wednesday’s episode of “AEW Dynamite,” three of AEW’s top tag teams battled for a shot at FTR’s AEW World Tag Team Championship, with hometown favorites Matthew and Nicholas Jackson coming out on top. Honestly, after a performance like that, it’s hard to see it as anything but a win for everyone involved.
Having not watched AEW in some time, catching this match was a fantastic way to reconnect with the promotion. Everything about it screamed AEW in the best way possible. When I think of AEW, I picture matches that leave me utterly amazed at what athletes can achieve physically. It’s a place where high-risk, innovative wrestling thrives, and performers push beyond their limits. This contest exemplified that spirit perfectly. Each team is notorious for daring and risky moves, and from the outset, the action was relentless. Finishing moves were blocked, counters flew fast and furious, and moments that might have broken others simply displayed the skill and resilience of these talented athletes. This match embodies the essence of AEW, for better or worse, and there’s no better example on Wednesday’s card to showcase what the promotion represents.
Private Party’s surprise return added an exciting wildcard element to the bout, and they more than lived up to the hype. They looked seamless as a team despite their time away, matching up well against both the youthful Desmond Xavier and Myron Reed, as well as the seasoned Jackson brothers. While it’s disappointing that the recently returned Isiah Cassidy and Mark Quenn didn’t come away victorious, it felt appropriate that the Young Bucks, California’s hometown heroes, took the loss. It was a relief that Private Party didn’t suffer the pinfall, as they deserved to stay strong. Even though Xavier and Reed experienced their first AEW loss, it was fitting for the Bucks to be the ones to take it considering their recent successes.
This is what AEW and professional wrestling are truly about.

Moments like these keep the tag team division fresh and exciting, hinting at a future where the limits of in-ring athleticism continue to be pushed.
