Ex-WWE Star Hornswoggle Opens Up on How Therapy Transformed His Life

3 Min Read

Dylan Postol, better known to WWE fans as “Hornswoggle,” reflected warmly on his wrestling career in a recent interview, especially acknowledging Vince McMahon’s role in involving him in significant storylines. During his appearance on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” he opened up about his lifelong mental health struggles and the therapy that has helped him manage these challenges. Hornswoggle described himself as a “glass half empty” person but said this perspective helps him appreciate his achievements more deeply. He started therapy about a year ago and despite his battles, he remains happy pursuing his dream of professional wrestling. Before his WWE breakthrough, he often wrestled only once a month and made very little money.

Postol admitted he sometimes feels undeserving of his wrestling success, attributing much of it to luck and stating that no one, including himself, truly “earns” their place fully. He mentioned Ken Anderson publicly revealing his real identity and reflected on his decade-long career by saying he either was decent or simply good at hiding his inner struggles. He candidly shared that he didn’t consider himself entirely sane during those years.

The former cruiserweight champion also talked about the difficulty of balancing confidence with professionalism. He explained that ego is a fine line for him—believing in himself, but not to excess. Thanks to his son, he has gradually been able to watch some of his past wrestling matches, though he only feels comfortable viewing about five and dislikes seeing himself on screen due to dissatisfaction with his performance and appearance. Among his favorite works is the “WeeLC” show, which he regards as his best work he’d never surpass. Postol credits Kennedy, a former United States Champion, for helping him get his start in WWE.
