EVIL Set to Make Waves in WWE After Departing New Japan Pro Wrestling!

EVIL has yet to finalize his contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling, but it’s anticipated that he will do so shortly, with WWE being the likely next step for him.

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that EVIL’s contract will come to an end in January 2026 and will not be extended. As a result, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion is expected to conclude his tenure in Japan, and WWE appears to be his next destination.

According to Dave Meltzer and Brian Alvarez on wrestling observer radio, while WWE is a probable option, it may not represent a significant advancement in his career.

“EVIL is a capable wrestler, but he doesn’t stand out as exceptional. His skills aren’t a major step above others, and he lacks the kind of charisma that could elevate him like a star such as Penta.”

Meltzer also noted that EVIL’s potential in WWE might mirror that of Rusev, who was initially brought in with considerable expectations but quickly faded from the spotlight.

“He was introduced as a formidable opponent, but never really recovered. They had big plans for him, including the King of the Ring finals and a title opportunity against Jey Uso, but none of that materialized.”

The House of Torture is one of the more controversial factions in New Japan Pro Wrestling, and while one might assume EVIL orchestrates its interference, Meltzer claims that’s not quite accurate.

“He wasn’t really the mastermind behind the chaos. It was Dick Togo and SHO who were the ones really pulling the strings. EVIL typically stayed out of the fray during matches.”

Personal motivations may also play a role in his potential move to the U.S. Meltzer mentioned the reported relationship between EVIL and WWE star IYO SKY.

“It seems like he and IYO SKY are together, having been engaged at one point. Since she resides in America and he’s in Japan, the distance complicates things. At this stage in life, it’s natural to want to be closer.”

As EVIL’s time in New Japan Pro Wrestling winds down, the opportunity at WWE appears promising, yet opinions vary on how successful he might be if he makes the switch. The possibility is there, the timing seems right, and speculation continues, but until his first WWE appearance, uncertainty remains.
