WWE Lawsuit: Janelle Grant Labeled an ‘Opportunist’ in Legal Battle Against Vince McMahon

3 Min Read

The legal battle between former WWE paralegal Janelle Grant and Vince McMahon is progressing in court, drawing outspoken reactions from figures like Jasmine St. Clair. On Friday, U.S. District Judge Sarah F. Russell rejected Grant’s request for early discovery but allowed her the option to refile after WWE and McMahon initiate arbitration proceedings. While this ruling was procedural, it reignited online debates surrounding Grant’s stark accusations. In her response, Jasmine St. Clair criticized Grant, suggesting she exploited the situation for personal benefit.

St. Clair stated, “She was an opportunistic individual. Did you notice the gifts he gave her during that period? She stayed involved as long as she could, which implies maybe he wasn’t meeting her expectations, or she had doubts as a participant. But she shouldn’t be seen as the victim.”

In a follow-up post, St. Clair condemned Grant for violating her non-disclosure agreement after accepting a settlement, saying, “Many women who sign NDAs and later break them after receiving compensation have a long history of such behavior. This undermines their credibility.”

Grant filed her lawsuit in January 2024, alleging sexual abuse, human trafficking, coercion by McMahon, and negligence by WWE. Following her accusations, McMahon stepped down from his corporate roles at WWE and TKO. McMahon has denied all claims. Although Grant received $3 million under a prior NDA, she argues the agreement was mandatory and that her case should not be subject to private arbitration.

Friday’s court decision does not address the truth of Grant’s allegations or decide if the lawsuit will be public, but it suspends her evidence-gathering request until WWE and McMahon respond. Judge Russell said the court reserved judgment on the arbitration issue to avoid influencing future arguments, but public interest remains high.
