WWE SmackDown Results (5/1/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show opens with a video package looking back at what happened between Jacob Fatu and RAW World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett then welcomed us to the show and Cody Rhodes’ music hit and he came down to the ring. Cody then grabbed the microphone and started by asking fans what they wanted to talk about. Cody then said he was happy to provide new information and that he had some as well. Cody then said he met with medical staff and Nick Aldis earlier tonight to see if he was medically cleared for termination. Cody then said he was cleared to act. Cody then says that begs the question of what he’ll do next on SmackDown. Ricky Saints music then plays and he interrupts Cody.
Ricky then picked up the microphone and started talking about the fans booing things they didn’t understand. Ricky then says that he is young, successful, rich, and classy. Ricky then says that although he and Cody are not strangers, Cody has sensed a change in the atmosphere and knows that this change is a “revolution” that he is leading. Ricky then says he’s the guy and I’m the Friday Night Saints, and Cody says he’s happy for the Saints to be on SmackDown. Cody then asks Ricky what’s different now from the last time they walked in, and Ricky says it’s Cody’s current health. Ricky then reminds Cody that he is a former NXT Champion and NXT North American Champion, and that he is here to relieve Cody of his duties as the undisputed WWE Champion.
Cody then says Ricky pulled some easy strings and agreed to confront Ricky in the ring. Both men then shake hands, but Ricky says he didn’t come to the ring to make a statement. Ricky then says he’s here to change things on SmackDown. Cody then tells Ricky that he is easy to find and difficult to defeat.
Next, let’s take a look at what happened with Fatal Influence on last week’s show.
Next up are Kathy Kelly, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. Cassie asks Charlotte about her game and numbers advantage. Then Rhea Ripley appears and says she can answer it. Rhea then says that she was ambushed when she tried to take on Fatal Influence alone. Rhea then says she will put her problems aside. Alexa says she’s grateful, but Charlotte says they may have teamed up before, but never again. Rhea then points out the situation with the numbers. Alexa says she’s grateful, and Charlotte says she understands their alliance, but the three of them are a crowd.
Fatal Influence then follows as Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss come down to the ring for the first match of the night.
Jaycee Jayne then cuts a promo and says she has something to say and was expecting the reaction. Then Jaycee says he got a little taste of what they’re bringing to SmackDown. Then Jaycee says someone couldn’t get enough and she loves it. Jaycee said she’s growing from it. Jaycee says that if there’s anything they want to do, it’s to embarrass them as legends. Jaycee then says he’s going to eliminate your precious little legends one at a time. Jaycee then says who better to start with than Charlotte Flair.
Single match: “The Queen” Charlotte Flair vs. Fatal Influence’s Jaycee Jayne
The match starts with both women locking up and heading to the corners. Flair then makes a clean break. Jaycee then hits a knee but Flair sends Jaycee into the corner. Flair hits a series of chops to the chest, followed by a headlock. Jaycee then sends Flair into the ropes, but Flair hits a shoulder tackle. Flair goes to the ropes again but Jaycee hits a right hand. Jaycee then gets hit with a hurricanrana. Jaycee then grabs Flair, but Flair hits a right hand. Flair then trips Jaycee and she goes for the Figure Four but Jaycee kicks her away. Jaycee then rolls to the outside of the ring, only to find herself on the same side of the ring as Alexa.
Flair then holds the ropes to bring Jaycee back into the ring. Flair then tightens the waistlock and hits an elbow. Flair then hits a kick, but Reed distracts Flair and Jaycee hits a thrust kick that sends Flair into the ropes. After that, Jaycee lands a few punches and a cannonball, almost forcing him to fall. Jaycee then works on the neck and Flair hits a punch. Jaycee then hits a knee and locks in a reverse chinlock. Flair goes up with an Irish whip, but Jaycee hits a back elbow for a near fall. Jaycee then chokes Flair in the ropes. Jaycee then hits a kick to the back and locks in a rear chinlock.
Jaycee then gets on Flair’s back. But Flair sends Jaycee into the turnbuckles and tries to escape. Jaycee then throws a punch. Jaycee then goes for a hip attack, but Flair catches him and hits a belly to back suplex. Flair then hits a few forearms and chops. Flair then hits a walkover clothesline. Jaycee then hits an Irish whip and Flair hits a Flair flip and boot. Flair then goes up top and hits a crossbody, but Jaycee rolls over for a near fall. Flair then kicked a running boot and hit a moonsault for a near fall. Jaycee then clips Flair and hits a running knee for a near fall. Flair then hits a thrust kick and a leglock. She then bridges and Fallon pulls Flair down. Alexa then punches Fallon. Reed then hits a knee. Flair then hits a boot to Reed on the apron. Jaycee then hits a rolling elbow for the win.

After the match, Jaycee tells Fallon and Laney to go after Flair. Alexa then tries to make the save, but Fallon kicks her to the floor. She then sends Alexa into the ring steps. Then Rhea Ripley’s music hits and everything stops. Rhea then hits a thrust kick on Fallon, who falls to the floor. She then kicks Reed and Riptide on Jaycee, but Jaycee escapes and pushes Rhea towards Flair, but Rhea stops short.
Afterward, we met up with Page and Brie Bella in the locker room, and Byron Saxton asked them their thoughts on last week’s offense and what we just saw. Brie said they are impressed and are making a name for themselves. Bree then says that their actions will catch up with them. Paige then says that karma is real and they will deal with it in the future, but they have to worry about tonight’s tag title match. Byron then asks how he will keep the title. Bree said they have an advantage given their experience.
R-Truth then appears with Axiom and Nathan Fraser and he tells Damian Priest that he is talking to Los Americanos. Priest then said they deserved a title match and said he was looking forward to defending them tonight. Axiom then says he’s not talking about the match, and Frazier says he’ll talk to Nick. Truth then says they were talking about taxes, and Priest becomes even more confused when Truth says they shouldn’t give out title matches to everyone.
Kit Wilson and The Miz are then seen talking about capturing Danhausen, and they say they will blind Danhausen to stop him. Danhausen then sees the briefcase containing the money, takes $40,000 from the case and leaves. Kit then says it should have worked, and Miz opens the case and sprays Miz and Kit.
R-Truth and Damian Priest then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night, followed by Nathan Fraser and Axiom.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match: R-Truth and Damian Priest (c) vs. Fraxiom (Nathan Fraser and Axiom)
The match starts with Axiom and R-Truth, and they both lock up. Truth then backs Axiom into the corner, gives him a clean break, and applies a side headlock. Truth then lands a shoulder tackle and performs a dance. Truth then misses a clothesline but Axiom hits an armdrag. Frazier then tags in and Priest tags in. Priest then sends Axiom into the corner, but Frazier escapes and applies a side headlock. Frazier then hits an enzuigiri and tags in Axiom. Priest then hits a forearm and Axiom jumps over Priest. Priest then boxes the ear and follows up with a forearm. Axiom then counters the Razor’s Edge onto a rana. Axiom and Frazier then hit a double dropkick, sending Truth to the floor.
Priest and Truth then move out of the way and Fraser and Axiom don’t hit the dive on the floor. Priest then returns to the ring and kicks Axiom into the corner. Priest then hits a forearm and Truth tags in. Truth hits a corkscrew flying forearm and Priest hits a side Russian leg sweep. Then the truth is on the verge of collapse. Axiom then escapes a suplex and Frazier tags in. Axiom turns Frazier onto Truth and goes for a DDT, but Frazier gets a nearfall. Axiom then tags in and kicks Truth. Axiom then hits a forearm and Truth punches back. Axiom then hits a dropkick but gets a nearfall. Axiom then closes it out with a sleeper. Fraser also tags in and hits a stereo kick for a near fall.
Axiom then tags in and goes up top, jumping over Truth. Truth then hits a kick and cutter from a suplex stance. Priest and Frazier then team up and Priest hits a few punches and a double back body drop. Priest then hits a few elbows into the corners of both men. Priest then hits Axiom with a Cyclone Kick and Frazier with a Package Flatliner. Priest then hits a rebound clothesline on Axiom and goes for the South of Heaven, but Frazier lands on his feet and hits a kick to Priest. Truth also tags in and hits two flying shoulder tackles and a blue thunder bomb. Truth then hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Axiom then drags Priest off the apron and Frazier sees what happened on the floor and gets a rollup on Truth.
Truth is then sent to the floor, Fraser hits a suicide dive on Truth, and Axiom hits a dive on Priest. Frazier then hit a flip dive on Truth and Priest, followed by a moonsault off the ring post. Axiom then hits a missile dropkick and Frazier hits a leg sweep, but Priest breaks the cover. The strap goes down and Priest pulls Truth into the corner and makes the tag. Priest then sends Axiom to the floor. Priest then had Fraser hit South of Heaven, and Fraser hit Axiom with Razor’s Edge for the win.

After the match, Tara Tonga attacks Truth and Priest. He then sends Truth into a chair in the corner. Tara then hits a double chokeslam on Axiom and Frazier. Tara then hits a chokeslam on Priest. Solo Chicoa then enters the ring.
Now let’s see what happened. Everyone except MFT is then removed from the ring. Solo then grabbed the microphone and started talking about how Jacob Fatu made a huge mistake last week. Now let’s look at what happened last week. Solo said that even though Jacob got rid of the military, he got rid of his family. Solo then says that Tara’s family is his family. Solo then says that Jacob’s brother is his brother. Solo then says that Tara’s blood is his own. Solo then says it’s not your fault they’re standing here. And Solo says that once you get to this building, you’re a dead man.
The Usos’ music then hits and they make their way down to the ring. Jimmy says they’re in your city. And he said, okay, I understand that you’re having problems with Jacob. And he said, you need to understand, you’re not the only one with the problem. And Roman says he has a big problem, too. And I say the mistake wasn’t when Jacob eliminated you. And, he says, that’s when he tried his hand at Roman. Jey then says that not only did he put a hand on Roman, but he also used the Tonga Death Grip. Then he said it was passed down and your dad used it, Tara. And he says it’s a last resort. He then says that whatever plans he has with Jacob must hold out until Roman is done with him.
Then Solo said there were many Jacobs. Then Jay says they’re not asking you, they’re talking to him. Solo then laughs and says he doesn’t have time for that. Solo then says they should go. He then sees Tara, kicks Jay, and chokeslams Jimmy. Solo then tells Jimmy and Jay that Roman is not the tribal leader but doesn’t care. He then says that whether Roman likes it or not, Jacob is a dead man.
Cody Rhodes is then seen walking behind him and Sami Zayn stops him and asks if he was condescending or sarcastic. And he says it wasn’t a mistake to be called Golden Boy. He then asks if he is angry because he wore a golden cloak and a golden crown. And he said they have to stick together. And he said they were the last of a dying breed. And he said they were the last truly good people. He then says they are friends. Then he says they are the same. Cody says there’s a lot of truth to it, but they’re not the same. Cody then leaves.
Ricky Saints then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night, followed by Cody Rhodes.
Non-title match: Undisputed WWE Champion “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes vs. “Absolute” Ricky Saints
The match begins with Cody Rhodes holding out his hand and Ricky Saints shaking it, but Ricky gets a side headlock and a shoulder tackle. Ricky then goes for a shoulder tackle. Ricky then blocks a hip toss and hits a few arm drags. Cody hits a knee and goes for a delayed gordbuster, but Ricky gets to his feet. Cody then hits an Irish whip and Ricky goes to the apron. Cody then hit a forearm that sent Ricky flying to the floor. Ricky then swings into the ropes and kicks Cody. Ricky then clotheslines Cody over the top rope to the floor.
Cody then returns to the ring and they both lock up. Cody locks up with a side headlock and gets a takedown. Ricky then hits a headscissors. Cody then escapes, but Ricky hits him with a series of back elbows and then a series of elbows to the back of his neck. Ricky then sends Cody into the turnbuckles and kicks and punches Cody. Cody then hits a kick and a dropdown uppercut. Ricky then hits a clothesline for a near fall. Ricky then hits an elbow in the corner, followed by a snapmare and a knee drop for a nearfall. Ricky then tightens with a chinbar.
Ricky then hits an elbow and sends Cody back to the mat. Ricky and Cody then trade chops. Ricky then hits a kick and a sliding kick for a near fall. Ricky then goes back to the neck. Cody then hits a running forearm and Ricky hits a forearm. Ricky then hits a neckbreaker and knee drop for a near fall. Ricky then chokes Cody with the ropes. Ricky then sends his eyes over the top rope. Ricky then goes to the old school ropes and poses after a forearm. Cody then hits a powerslam. Cody then hits the Beautiful Disaster and Cody Cutter. Cody then sets up Ricky, but Ricky hits a reverse swinging neckbreaker for a near fall.
Ricky then hits a sunset flip for a near fall. Cody then gets a rollup for a nearfall. Ricky then hits a tornado DDT for a nearfall. Ricky then goes for Roshambo, but Cody fights back and hits the Crossroads for the win.

After the match, Gunther comes up behind Cody and hits a sleeper. GUNTHER then releases the hold and reapplies the hold. Gunther then adjusts his title belt and picks it up. Gunther then holds the Undisputed WWE Championship in the air and throws the title away. Gunter then leaves the ring and heads to the back.
Danhausen then drove down to the ring and said he had something to say. Danhausen then introduced himself and said he found $400 to buy merchandise for his fans. The Miz then interrupts and goes down to the ring. The Miz then says that bad things have happened since Danhausen got here. The Miz then says Danhausen ruined the vow renewal, stole his daughter’s bike, and blew himself up. Then Miz says he realized he was cursed. Miz then says he’s going to do something he never thought he would do. Miz then says he will become Danhausen’s mentor. They were about to shake hands, but Kit Wilson’s music interrupted them.
Kit asks Miz if he has lost his mind. Kit then says that Miz taught him. Kit then says to enable this poisonous little goblin. Miz then says enough is enough and Kit tells Miz to wake up. Miz then says that Danhausen has learned the curse. And Miz said he was able to realize what it takes to become a superstar. Miz then asks if he can say the same kit. Then Miz says I want you to be my mentee. Then Miz says you’re not even in the same league. Kit then calls off the handshake again and Kit asks them to give them a chance. Then Kit says he wrote a poem. Kit then asks Miz to shake his hand. Danhausen then asks Miz to shake his hand. Miz then finally shakes Danhausen’s hand. Miz then says there’s one thing left to do. Danhausen tries to taunt Kit, but Miz punches Danhausen from behind. Kit and Miz then attack Danhausen. Miz then hits the Skull Crushing Finale. Kit then goes up top and hits an elbow drop.
Then I turned to the back and saw Lois Keyes warming up.
Next, we get the Blake Monroe video package. Blake is in the bathtub and says nothing burns brighter than her.
Angel and Berto head to the ring for their next match of the night, followed by Royce Keys.
Single match: Royce Keyes vs. Los Garza’s Angel
The match starts with Angle throwing his pants at Keyes to distract him, but Keyes recovers and shoves Angel to the floor. The belt then distracted Keys and Angel missed. Then the key hits the clothesline. Keys then hit a splash in the corner, knocking the belt off the apron. Keyes then catches Angel off the turnbuckle and puts him on the turnbuckle. Keys then hits a twisting powerslam off the turnbuckle. Keyes then hit a spinebuster for the win.
The winner of the singles match is Royce Keyes!
We then see Kathy Kelly with Tiffany Stratton and she asks what’s next. Tiffany says people should come to her for opportunities. And she says she should defend the title more often. Chelsea Green then said she was walking again and said they were going to buy martinis because Nick Aldis ruined her birthday celebration. Chelsea then says they can talk about her becoming champion again. Kiana James and Julia show up and she says it won’t be long before Tiffany becomes champion. Kiana then says she will give Julia a title match. Tiffany then says she’s looking forward to defending her title next week. And she says it will be against Kiana, not Julia.
He then saw Lois Keyes on the phone and he said he would call back. Jacob Fatu appears and congratulates Lois. Lois then says that she has known Fatu for 14 or 15 years and that they are the same man. Then he talked about old cars, going to Las Vegas for a show and going back to the warehouse. And he says Roman is back on top and has it all. Lois then tells Fatu to launch a werewolf and stop Roman from taking food from the table. And he said he hopes WWE doesn’t take away the smell of the city from him. Tara Tonga then attacks Lois and Fatu chases Tara. Tara then chokes Fatu on the table.
A gingerbread man suit enters the ring, Sami Zayn’s music plays, and he comes down to the ring. Sami asks fans, “Are you having fun?” Sami then said he was being honest. Sami then said she loved coming to Tulsa. Sami then said that she had a wonderful morning. Then Sami says he went to the Bob Dylan Center. Sami then explains that Bob was a folk music legend before he picked up an electric guitar. Sami says they attacked him and booed him. Sami then says she can relate. Sami then says she doesn’t know what she’s done to get some of the reactions she’s getting. Sami then says she doesn’t care. Sami then said that he knew his Ride or Die fan club was in the house tonight.
Sami then says there are millions more watching at home and they will be rooting for him. Sami then says he can handle some bad reactions. Sami then says he can’t handle rudeness. Sami then mentions the fact that there are people like Trick Williams. Then Sami said, “Tricks and gingerbread men are fun.” Sami then says that it’s the empty shell of a man in a costume and that’s the trick. Sami then says that what Trick is doing is simple. Sami then said to have great music, great entrances, dance moves, and catchphrases. Then Sami said it was easy. Then Sami says what he’s doing is hard. Sami then says this is funny to see, but that’s not what he sees.
Sami then says she can see Trick not taking himself seriously. Sami then says this is rude. Sami then said that if she saw this costume, she would like to wear it. Sami paused, pumping his fist. Sami then says he’s about to lose his marbles because he’s about to hit the gingerbread man in Tulsa. Sami then shakes hands and kicks a gingerbread man who is not in either area. Sami then hits a series of elbow drops and punches. Sami then rips his arm off. Trick Williams music then plays and he goes down to the ring and hits Sam with an uppercut. Trick goes for a trick shot, but Sami falls to the floor and into the crowd. Trick then laments the state of his costume and spits out an “X”.
We next see Byron Saxton with Nia Jax and Rush Legend and he asks about Brie Bella and Paige’s comments. Nia points out that they weren’t pinned. Rush then says they prepared for the Bellas, not Page. And she says tonight will be a different story. Nia then says that it will work out since there are only two teams. She then said she would get the title back and Brie and Paige would go back to the couch with Nikki.
Later, I met Kathy Kelly in the trainer’s room and she said she was waiting for comments from Trick Williams. Trick then says that Sami has crossed the line. And Sami said he beat Yoti last week. Trick then says that Sami defeated the gingerbread man tonight. Trick then says you messed up his money and no one would do that. Trick then says that he doesn’t play with money. Trick then says that the gingerbread man is okay. Trick then says that there will be a match at Backlash. Then Trick says he can get what he wants.
Brie Bella and Paige then make their way down to the ring for their next match of the night, followed by Irresistible Force.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: WWE Hall of Famers Brie Bella and Paige (c) vs. Irresistible Force (Nia Jax and “The Boujee Brie” Rush Legend)
The match starts with Page and Rush Legend locking up. Rush then gets a takedown. Paige then hits a few kicks and Nia distracts Paige. Rush then hits a clothesline. Rush then hits a splash for a near fall. Nia then tags in and headbutts Paige. Nia then goes for a slam, but Paige escapes and clips Nia. More jawbreakers from Paige and a missile dropkick from Brie. Brie then hits a few knees and a leg sweep. Then Brie slams Brie Mode’s knee into the ropes. Brie kicks Rush off the apron but Nia gets Brie to her feet. Brie then goes to the apron and punches Nia. Rush grabbed Brie’s leg and Nia knocked Brie off the apron to the floor.
Rush sends Brie to the apron. They then return to the ring. Rush then slams Brie’s arm into the mat. Rush then puts Brie’s head between the top and middle ropes and she swings it back and forth. Then she does it again. Rush then hits a standing powerslam, but Page grabs the referee and Rush gets a near fall. Rush then approaches the fall again. Nia then tags in and puts Brie in a rope choke while sitting on her back. Nia then missed a splash into the corner and crashed into the turnbuckle. Nia then sends Brie into the turnbuckle. Rush then tags in and Rush hits a few guys in the shoulder. Nia tags in and hits a few shoulder hits in the corner.
Rush then tags in and she tags Nia back. Nia then slams Brie’s head into the mat. Nia then misses her shoulder in the corner and hits the ring post. Rush then swings at Page but misses. Rush then grabs Bree and stops her from tagging her. Brie then punches Rush and she hits a Lana and tags Paige. Page then hits a few forearms and a flying kick. Rush then sends Page to the apron and Page hits a few knees to Rush. Paige then goes up top and hits a crossbody, but Rush catches Paige. Paige then stands up and Brie tags in. Paige hits Paige Turner and Brie hits the X-Factor for a near fall. Nia then sends Paige to the floor. Nia then tags in and hits a splash in the corner. Paige kicks Nia in the leg as Nia goes for the NIAlatator. Brie then gets a rollup and wins.

Next week, it was announced that Gunther will be on SmackDown, Tiffany Stratton will defend the Women’s United States Title against Kiana James, Rhea Ripley, and Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss will face Fatal Influence, and the Gingerbread Man’s Funeral will take place.
We then meet Sami Zayn and he asks Nick Aldis if this is a joke. Nick says he knows Sami is angry, but he wants people to show some respect because people are sad. Then Sami says let’s make the match official. Nick then agrees to compete in the Backlash match. Sami then leaves and Danhausen appears. Danhausen asked Nick if he saw what happened and demanded a match with Miz. Nick then says that if he can find a tag partner, he can put Danhausen in a match against Miz and Kit. Danhausen agrees and leaves.
The Usos then make their way down to the ring for the main event of the night, followed by MFT.
Tag match: The Usos (“Main Event” Jey Uso and “Big Jim” Jimmy Uso) vs. MFT (Tala Tonga and Solo Chicoa)
The match starts with Tara Tonga and Jey Uso, Jey hits a few right hands and a superkick, but Tara fights back with a clothesline. Tara then hits an elbow drop. Solo is then tagged in and headbutts Jey. Solo then hits a right hand, but Jey hits a kick to the side of the head. Jimmy is then tagged in and gets soloed and double-teamed. Jimmy then climbs to the second rope and jumps, but Solo catches him and hits him with a spinning solo slam. And Solo hits a running hip attack.
Solo then slams a right hand into Jimmy. Tara then tags in and Tara hits a leg drop. He then goes for the cover, but Jimmy kicks out. Tara then hit a right hand on Jey and Jey fell off the ring apron. Solo is then tagged. Tara grabs Jimmy but Jimmy hits an elbow to the face. Solo then runs towards Jimmy, but Jimmy moves out of the way and Solo falls outside the ring. Tara then splashes Jimmy, but Jimmy moves out of the way. Jay then gets tagged in and hits a suicide dive on Tara. Jey then climbs to the top rope and hits a solo crossbody. He then goes for a cover, but the solo kicks out.
Jey then hits a few right hands and a superkick. Jey then goes to the ropes and hits a spear. He then goes for a cover, but Tara Tonga breaks it up. Jimmy then superkicks Tara. Jey then hit a superkick on Tara and The Usos hit a double superkick on Tara. The Usos then clotheslines Tara outside the ring. Jimmy then goes for a suicide dive, but Tara hits a right hand. Jay then jumps on top of Tara, but Tara grabs him and throws him into the barricade. Tara then throws Jimmy into the iron stairs. Tara then leaves the announce desk, but Jacob Fatu jumps off the barricade onto Tara and the referee calls for the bell.
By disqualification, the winners of the tag team match are The Usos (“Main Event” Jey Uso and “Big Jim” Jimmy Uso)!
After the match, Fatu slams Tara into the ring post and slams her with the ring step. Fatu then gets in the ring with Solo and Solo demands to know what he is doing. Solo then goes for the Samoan Spike, but Fatu hits the Tongan Death Grip first. Tara then catches Fatu with a suicide dive and tries to chokeslam Fatu through a table, but Fatu hits a Tonga Death Grip and Samoa crashes through the table. Fatu then pivots. Jimmy and Jey get in the ring and Fatu gets on the apron. Fatu then enters the ring and Fatu circles again. He then walked between Jimmy and Jey and left the ring. Fatu then tells Jimmy and Jay to tell Roman that they are going to walk the dog at Backlash when the show is about to end.
