Why WWE’s House Show Cuts Are Bad News for International Fans

6 Min Read

House shows were a classic WWE As long as it exists, promotions are built behind the scenes of live events – growing the product, bringing fans and expanding the world of professional wrestling in culture. WWE gradually moved to feature more TV shows and PPV events, but house shows were regular almost every day. This is steadily declining, giving wrestlers a better schedule. Recent comments suggest a further decline in house shows at WWE, but this is a negative, including WWE’s international fanbase.

WWE plans to reduce house shows

The impact of TKO in WWE is growing

  • TKO COO Mark Shapiro has revealed plans to cut back on live shows even further.
  • He defended the rise in ticket prices for WWE.
  • WWE’s house shows have been significantly reduced in recent years.

Compared to previous near-daily schedules, WWE’s house show schedule has been significantly reduced. This is beneficial for wrestlers’ body and family time, eliminating the need for many to spend most of their time and life on the road. In 2025, WWE reduced live events to one per month. Over the past few years, most fans of these house shows have toured internationally, but even so, it could still be reduced even further. According to TKO COO Mark Shapiro, WWE is set to step back further from the house show when he spoke at the JP Morgan Annual Global Technology, Media & Communications Conference.

It’s hard to imagine a further decline in schedules, but if this is a trend, fans may ultimately watch little or no house shows. WWE’s focus is not only on fan fun, but on other shows that can turn into content.

International fans will likely be less likely to attend the WWE show

Most overseas WWE events are house shows

WWE Road to Wrestlemania House Show

  • WWE has tours in Europe every year.
  • Many international fans rarely attend WWE events.
  • For some international fans, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

For a long time, WWE remained in North America, primarily for most live events, television shows and PLE. Under TKO’s ownership, the decision was made to return the “world” to “world wrestling entertainment.” WWE traveled to the UK, Australia, Germany, France, Belgium, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Italy and more. This allowed international fans to participate in more prominent and important WWE events. This was very positive. However, the need to attract fans to the house show isn’t so important, as WWE is willing to bring these bigger events to other countries, and this is costly for the same fans.

WWE’s European tour was extremely beneficial for international fans who dreamed of watching WWE live. I bring my kids to my favourites and take part in memory making events at affordable prices. As WWE is back at the house show, it means fans are fighting and screams to get tickets for PLE and TV events. For example, on WWE’s UK tour, WWE visits many cities, including Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Glasgow, Bristol, and many other cities, but most of these places receive the big raw, smackdown, or PLE that remain around London. Without live events, fans will have far fewer opportunities to attend the show, which is a huge shame.

WWE forces international fans to overuse

Fans must spend more for the international people of WWE

  • WWE is increasingly hosting international presentations.
  • WWE is forcing fans to take part in these bigger shows.
  • So many fans become expensive by WWE.

House shows have always been an affordable option for viewers, especially as WWE raised prices with a large margin. PLE paints a record-breaking gate, but it is due to a price hike, which is reflected in Raku and Smackdown. The audience selection is priced, and only the rich people who can afford it are big hits in bank accounts. People in a particular country – Belgium, for example – Monday night WWE trip in 2025 was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many people in the country. WWE has held two events in Belgium every year since 2011, but since 2019 the only show in the country has been live and is much more expensive than a house show.

WWE’s recent business practices are not addressing the audience. This is the latest example. It’s a hit with fans all over the world, but it’s definitely the case internationally. Countries such as Japan, Mexico and China rarely host WWE shows, so fewer live events could potentially drop to zero in some cases.
