When Dominique Mysterio beat the judge-day stables Finbarol, Penta and Bron Breakker to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 41, it was the culmination of a rather unexpected path to singles glory for the second generation stars. Mysterio has long been praised for being one of the most hated heels on the WWE roster, but he often felt himself less and more as a focus, as someone was stuck under two very different shadows. The first was, of course, the legendary Lucador, who began his career before his father, Rey Mysterio and Dominic, became one of his father’s last day rivals. Then there are other shadows where the other Shadow d’Oms found themselves. That of his two main on-screen relationships.
Since joining the judge several years ago, Mysterio’s WWE run has been largely defined by pairing with two of WWE’s biggest female wrestling stars. More recently, Mysterio has found herself involved Liv Morgan, a strong union for both, given her current reign as WWE Women’s World Champion and the women’s tag team champion with Raquel Rodriguez. However, that relationship was a connection with DOM with “Mami” Rare Ripley. This was extremely successful and convinced that Ripley’s then-fianced fiance and now husband Aee’s fellow Matthews had to constantly remind the fans he and Ripley were involved. Meanwhile, Mysterio did not need to make such a distinction between Cayfabe and his personal life, despite having a long-term relationship outside the ring.

Regarding Mysterio’s marriage to Marie Juliet, except that the couple got engaged in January 2023 and tied the knot a year later on March 6th, Mysterio followed in the footsteps of the Roman reign of top WWE stars to maintain their private life. Nevertheless, Mysterio dropped several nuggets here and there about his relationship with Marie. They revealed that they have been together since they were 14 years old while appearing on Logan Paul’s “Impulse” podcast.
Another thing Mysterio touched on was his wife’s response to the more “romantic” angles he was involved in, including the segment where Ripley licked his face and several segments where he and Morgan kissed him. According to Mysterio, Juliet was cool in that. Ultimately, Mysterio believes in their long-term relationship and the fact that he quickly lets Juliet know if he will create such an angle in advance, as he makes their relationship feel safe. In fact, in the same “unfalse” appearance, Mysterio reveals that Juliet’s reaction to Ripley licking his face is to find a tarantula in her and Mysterio’s garage.
