AEW star Sammy Guevara revealed that he turned down an invitation from Darby Allin to join him on his Mount Everest climb, explaining that he didn’t want to risk his life while his family depended on him. On May 18th, it was confirmed that Darby Allin successfully reached Mount Everest after ascending 29,000 feet. Before Allin’s return to AEW, Guevara expressed his happiness for his friend’s incredible achievement. In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestlebinge, Guevara shared that although Allin had invited him to join the climb, he declined due to the danger involved and his responsibility to his family. Guevara emphasized that risking one’s life in such a challenge seems selfish if one has children, saying, “Maybe the younger Sammy would have accepted the offer.” He also said he respects Allin even more because, unlike himself, Allin does not have children yet and accomplished something remarkable.

Sammy Guevara currently holds the ROH tag team championship with Dustin Rhodes. Additionally, AEW president Tony Khan has commented on Darby Allin’s Everest summit. (Credit to wrestletalk.com for the original content.)
