Legendary announcer and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, also known as “Good Ol’ JR,” will soon make a comeback to AEW’s broadcast team. In a recent episode of his Grillin’ Junior Podcast, Ross shared that he will be traveling to London, England, to call matches for the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door Pay-Per-View event.

During the podcast, Ross confirmed that he’s in contact with AEW President Tony Khan and will participate in the commentary for the major co-promoted show scheduled at the O2 Arena on Sunday, August 24th. He expressed his enthusiasm for returning to such a notable venue and his respect for the event.

“This week, through my communication with Tony Khan, I learned that I’m going to be in London and will get to call some matches at the O2. It’s going to be an incredible experience,” Ross said.

His return brings a beloved and iconic voice back to one of AEW’s biggest and most eagerly awaited events of the year.

This will be Ross’s second major pay-per-view appearance since overcoming serious health challenges. The 73-year-old recently announced that his cancer is in remission after surgery earlier this year to remove colon cancer. He also made an emotional return to commentary for AEW’s Texas pay-per-views in July.

Fan Take: Jim Ross returning to AEW broadcasts is a huge win for fans, adding a layer of nostalgia and credibility to the event. His presence not only enhances the viewing experience but also signals AEW’s commitment to blending wrestling tradition with its modern style, potentially drawing in more longtime wrestling enthusiasts.
