Cody Rhodes shared his thoughts on the possibility of a third match against Roman Reigns.
Since Cody’s return to WWE, he and Roman Reigns have clashed in two singles matches. Roman secured the win in the main event at WrestleMania 39, while Cody answered back with a victory over Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
In a recent interview on the SI Media Podcast, the WWE Champion was asked about the prospect of a third showdown with his longtime rival. Rhodes expressed satisfaction with how their previous encounters concluded and explained that arranging another match would be quite challenging.
“I’m really happy with what we delivered. I always tried to add a poetic touch to my words about him, sometimes something a bit unsettling for entertainment,” Cody said.
Roman Reigns adopted a more humble approach following his loss at WrestleMania 40. He teamed up with Cody for a match at last year’s Bad Blood event. Because of these developments, many fans think Cody might need to turn heel to keep a third match engaging.
Rhodes indicated he’s open to facing the former undisputed champion again but admitted he’s unsure what Reigns thinks about a third bout.
“I think it’s important if it happens again, especially for fans hyping it up. You can’t just have two, you know? Sometimes these matches become the biggest showdowns that never happened. I’m not at a disadvantage. I don’t know his mindset. We’re different people, and with a win each, we’re even,” he said.
The former AEW star also discussed his Summerslam match with John Cena during the interview, sharing insights about any heel stories in pay-per-view events.
Fan Take: This potential trilogy between Rhodes and Reigns could be a defining saga for modern WWE storytelling, giving fans a compelling narrative to follow. If booked well, it might elevate both superstars and set a new standard for rivalries in the sport.
