R-Truth and Road Dogg Reflect on the ‘Gut-Wrenching’ Moment of Truth’s WWE Release

One of the major storylines in Season 2 of “WWE Unreal” centered around the rumored release of R-Truth. However, Paul “Triple H” Levesque later revealed on the show that this was actually a strategy during contract negotiations to bring Ron Killings back to WWE. Road Dogg, a longtime friend and former tag team partner of Truth, was caught off guard by the release news as well. Both shared a heartfelt moment on camera as they reflected on the emotional impact. Truth began by describing how positive he felt after his main event match against John Cena on Saturday night.

“I came back from the ring feeling great,” Truth said. “Then everything just stopped. I was taking my daughter to her dance when I got the call about my release, and I immediately tweeted. It was heartbreaking.”

Road Dogg, whose real name is Brian James, originally joined WWF in 2000 and once teamed with Truth when he went by K-Kwik. He was equally shaken by the news.

“I was about to run some errands that morning when Truth texted me, ‘Hey, I’ve been let go. See you soon,’” he recalled. “It was totally unexpected and heartbreaking. I pulled over, sat there quietly for a moment, then tweeted about it. It was such a raw, real moment.”

Although James quickly deleted his post mourning his friend’s departure, “Unreal” aired a screenshot of it. He acknowledged that such ups and downs are part of the business but expressed his deep affection for Killings.

Since then, Truth has made a strong return at Money in the Bank under a fresh four-year deal, playing a crucial role in helping Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes secure victories over Logan Paul and John Cena.
