AEW recorded the May 17 episode of AEW Collision, which took place in Chicago, Illinois on May 14th. The action-packed night provided some solid matchups, and here are spoiler results.
Kyle Fletcher defeated AR Fox.
The Steve “Mango” McMichael tribute was hosted by Tony Ciaborne. Mango’s wife, Misty, comes out and says he is the most special person in her life. She spoke about his impact on football and wrestling. Dean Malenko was introduced and Siabone spoke about Mango’s football achievements. He also mentioned his wrestling career, which was ALS Awareness Month.
Then Rick Flair came out and hugged everyone. Flair said Chicago is one of the best wrestling cities ever. He remembered losing the world title there to Ricky Steamboat and said the crowd was always loud and full of energy. He said AEW is giving fans the opportunity to celebrate McMichael.
Flair thanked everyone who praised him by saying that Mango was the toughest man he ever knew. He even stated how Mango fought ALS for six years, and that the mist stayed by his side and learned to be his nurse. The crowd chanted mangoes. Flair thanked Aee and Tony Khan for their tribute.
Megan Bain defeated Anna Jay in the singles tournament.
Roh Champion Bandido, Tomohiro Ishii and Brody King defeated Rocky Romero, Lance Archer and Trent Beretta. After the match, the winner was attacked, but the outtranner came out for a save.
Speedball Mike Bailey pinned Blake Christian. He then called Okada Okada for the match. Okada came out, but Rush and Dralistic attacked Bailey and laid out him.
Big Bill and Brian Keith won the battle on Chicago Street against the Gate of Agony.
ROH tag team champions Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara defeated CRU to win a match against the Heart Syndicate with Double or Nothing.
Powerhouse Hobbs has won the Wheeler Yuta. After the match, Marina Shafir attacked Hobbs, but Willow Nightingale ran off to save him. This completes the taping.
